It's going to be hot! Stay cool!

It’s hot...so make sure you’re not! The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat advisory for Campbell County.

Drink plenty of fluids
Stay in an air-conditioned room
Stay out of the sun
Bring pets indoors
Check up on relatives and neighbors.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1 immediately if you or someone near is exhibiting signs of heat distress.

Our town is getting ready for the 250th birthday of the USA!!

The Town dumpsters on Bank Street will be removed and the site closed on August 1, 2026. Town residents are urged to take advantage of residential trash pickup if they don't already do so. The Town dumpsters were originally intended to be for Town of Brookneal residents' household garbage only, but have increasingly been misused in the past few years. Town residents can purchase additional trash cans for $50 each. Call the town office at 434-376-3124 if you are interested in additional cans.

Local dumpster sites include:

1. Town of Brookneal and Campbell County residents--97 Price Avenue, Brookneal, VA (near Burning Bush Church/Brookneal Chips). This site is open from 630 am to 730 pm daily. Here is a link to a complete list of centers in Campbell County.

Calling all businesses!!

The Town's July 4th celebration is fast approaching! We would like all businesses to decorate their storefronts for July 4th. We will have a contest to see who has the most patriotic storefront. Judging will be done prior to July 4th. Have fun and be creative with your red, white and blue!!

Johnson Health Mobile Medical Unit is set up and ready to serve you! They take all forms of insurance and will even work with you if you don't have insurance. They will take walk-ins today. They are located in the CVS parking lot at 240-B Lusardi Drive, Brookneal, VA They have a wheelchair lift if you need assistance getting into their mobile unit. Go out and visit them, get information or ask questions about their services!

At this point, it is critical to get sign ups for these 2 events; no one has signed up for either date. Citizens expressed a need for these services and Mayor LaPrade and the economic development committee responded and worked hard to bring these services to Brookneal.
