Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15th, at 2:00 PM for a new Red Hill Rediscovered! "The Untold Story of Red Hill’s Last Family Heiress"

"What mysteries lie beneath the familiar story of Red Hill? Lucy Gray Henry Harrison grew up surrounded by the history of her famous family, but her own life carried her far beyond her ancestral home. Her marriage to Matthew Bland Harrison, a self-made millionaire, ended with his sudden death and left Lucy to forge a new path. In 1904, she purchased Red Hill and began reshaping the estate, but the devastating fire of 1919 changed it forever. Surviving letters, legal records, photographs, and recent discoveries bring Lucy’s world into focus and raise new questions about the woman who fought to secure Red Hill’s future. Tune in to hear what Courtney, our wonderful curator, has to share about Lucy and her time at Red Hill.

This Labor Day, we thank and honor all of the hard workers in the world.

We must remember all of the foundational work that helped create our country. Whether it be from the Native Americans who nurtured this land for centuries before colonial Americans arrived and began to harm their tribes and force them away from their homes, or from the unjust, forced labor of millions of enslaved people for decades in the United States. Without their often forgotten sacrifices, we wouldn't be where we are today.
