đźš” 68TH PRECINCT TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT UPDATE

The 68th Precinct has assigned a dedicated police officer to address double-parking conditions along the 5th Avenue commercial corridor and 86th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues.

Double parking creates unnecessary congestion, reduces visibility, obstructs the safe flow of traffic, and can delay emergency vehicles.

The assigned officer will focus on maintaining traffic flow and addressing parking violations in these areas.

We are asking motorists to do their part:

• Do not double park, even for a short period of time.
• Do not park in fire hydrants
• Keep travel lanes, intersections, bus stops, and crosswalks clear.

Our goal is simple: safer streets, improved traffic flow, and more accessible commercial corridors for everyone.

68th Precinct — Two-Week Review

Over the past two weeks, members of the 68th Precinct have continued working diligently to address crime, apprehend offenders, and improve public safety throughout Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.

Notable arrests and enforcement activity include:

- The 68th Precinct Detective Squad apprehended a suspect wanted in connection of a recent robbery where money was taken by force from the women’s person.

- Precinct detectives made an arrest in a two-year-old grand larceny investigation. The suspect had left the New York City area following the incident and was taken into custody after returning.

- 68th Precinct patrol officers made multiple arrests involving individuals found in possession of stolen vehicles.

- A suspect was apprehended in connection with multiple vehicle break-ins. Where credit cards were taken and used after the theft.

- The 68th Precinct conducted a targeted illegal moped enforcement operation, resulting in the confiscation of 20 illegal mopeds.

Ongoing Investigations

The investigation involving an elderly man who was targeted in a jewelry chain-swap scheme and sustained a serious head injury remains active and is continuing to develop. The 68th Precinct Detective Squad is actively investigating this incident.

Additionally, the investigation into the multiple commercial burglaries that occurred along Third Avenue during the early morning hours on Friday remains ongoing. Detectives continue to pursue investigative leads.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has information that could assist with these investigations is encouraged to contact the police.

The men and women of the 68th Precinct remain committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible for crimes in our community while maintaining a visible presence throughout Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.
