We had a wonderful evening at Women's Empowerment Coalition of NYC's Culture Night this past Saturday! We are so proud that Homecrest was part of this beautiful celebration of diversity and heritage.

The highlight of the night was our Ms. Wu, who captivated the audience with a deeply moving performance of a traditional Chinese opera selection. Sung with immense grace, her piece was dedicated to the profound meaning of gratitude, a beautiful reminder of the shared values that bring our community together.

Beyond the incredible performances, we were spoiled with an amazing lineup of diverse food from different cultures. Thank you to WECNYC for hosting such an incredible night, and to Ms. Wu for sharing her talent with us all!

This week, our Multi-Social Services Center partnered with Rendr for a valuable workshop on depression and anxiety.

Our participants took a deep dive into how our emotions and energy levels directly impact our physical bodies. We also walked through the GAD-7 assessment tool to teach our community practical ways to recognize and monitor anxiety.

Thank you so much to Rendr for sharing your expertise and helping us break the stigma surrounding mental health!

Yesterday, we stood alongside Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, fellow community organizations, and our brave member, Mr. Chan, to demand urgent action against the SNAP benefit theft crisis plaguing our city.

Nearly 3 million SNAP recipients in NY are vulnerable to skimming fraud due to outdated EBT card technology. In Brooklyn alone, families are watching their lifelines vanish overnight.

Our member, Mr. Chan, spoke powerfully on behalf of his son, who lost over $500 in benefits last year. While Homecrest Community Services was able to help his son get reimbursed before the program ended, thousands of families are now left with nowhere to turn when their food money is stolen.

As Mr. Chan perfectly put it: "SNAP benefits are not extra money. They are money families depend on to buy food."

We are proud to stand with to call on the State and City to protect our neighbors by:

>> Transitioning to secure, chip-enabled EBT cards
>> Establishing a state-funded reimbursement program for victims
>> Creating a dedicated Office of SNAP Fraud

Last night, Homecrest Community Services was proud to co-host the 2026 Candidate Forum in Manhattan, bringing together community members and candidates for an important conversation about the future of our neighborhoods and our state.

Events like this provide residents with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates, learn about key issues, and make informed decisions at the ballot box. Civic engagement is essential to a healthy democracy, and strong communities are built when residents are informed, engaged, and involved.

Thank you to , the candidates, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this forum possible. As Primary Day approaches, we encourage everyone to stay informed, make your voice heard, and participate in the democratic process. Every voice matters, and every vote helps shape the future of our communities.

Congratulations to Eric from our leadership team who graduated from Jewish Community Relations Council of New York's 2026 cohort of WAABFAH (We Are All Brooklyn Fellowship Against Hate) yesterday!

Representing Homecrest, Eric spent the last 4 months traveling across Brooklyn, learning how different communities are uniting to combat hate in our city. We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many amazing nonprofit leaders along the way.

Homecrest is committed to being an active part of the solution. Moving forward, we are excited to leverage these new connections to help build a more united Brooklyn.
