As your child heads into a new school year, make sure their health is part of the checklist. Staying up to date on routine immunizations, including the flu vaccine, helps protect your child from serious illnesses while keeping them healthy, active, and ready to learn.

Appointments are available throughout the school year! Scan the QR code to find an OBH ambulatory care location and schedule your child’s vaccines today.

School is back in session!

Slow down. Stay alert. STOP for school buses.

Give children the time and space they need to get to school safely.

9/8 - Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the Hebrew Educational Society (H.E.S.) and meeting with their dedicated staff to learn more about the important work they do for our community.

I also had the opportunity to tour their food pantry, which was sponsored by the Met Council in preparation for the upcoming Jewish High Holidays, and see their beautiful facility firsthand. I am grateful to the HES team and the Met Council for their partnership and continued commitment to providing valuable resources, services, and support to local families.

9/8 - The Jamaica Bay Library hosted a documentary screening today followed by a panel discussion by members of the organization Release Aging People in Prison (RAPP).

My staff member Lucy was in attendance to learn, ask questions, and discuss ways RAPP wants to decrease the number of incarcerated older adults and reform the parole board system.

Lucy also set up a table to distribute resources to the community during the library’s back-to-school backpack giveaway.

Thank you to the Jamaica Bay Library for putting on this great event and to RAPP for continuing to inform and advocate for the community.

There’s truly nothing like the energy on Eastern Parkway for the West Indian American Day Carnival!🌴🎉✨

Now in its phenomenal 59th year, Eastern Parkway came alive with a vibrant celebration of Caribbean heritage, artistry, and community. From the infectious rhythms of calypso, soca, and reggae to the booming sound of dancehall and the unmistakable ring of steelpan, the entire Parkway was a reflection of Caribbean soul and unity.
It was an absolute privilege to participate in such an enduring celebration. A huge thank you to the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) for stewarding this vital cultural tradition with such dedication, grace, and vitality year after year.

Happy Labor Day!🎈🎆🇺🇸
See you next year!!!
