Back to school giveaway at P.S.112.

This is where it started for me in advocacy for education.

In 2014, my older daughter started attending school here, I was asked to sit in as a temp on the School Leadership Team, SLT. I stayed for the next 10 years as my 2 daughters went to that school. The last 3 years concurrent with volunteering at IS 187.

I was still a cop then.

I wasn’t trying to build any kind of resume. I was just concerned about our kids’ education.

It was 33 years ago today that I swore to protect. And now, I still swear to protect.

93-17, happy anniversary!
It was like yesterday, and I’d do it all over again.

I can’t find a police academy picture of me.
So this one from the 7th Precinct will have to do for now.

In those 33 years I...

- served as a police officer, undercover investigator in OCCB, patrol supervisor, Applicant processing division supervisor, Brooklyn South evidence collection team supervisor and second in command.

- became a homeowner
- raised a family
-Spent 13 years as a schools volunteer, PTA president, title 1 chair, SLT parent.
- had a retail business
- became a small property owner
- became a small investor
- provided notary services free of charge to our community
- all while living in Bensonhurst.

I was always busy. They called me “the ghost of the 7th” because I was never around lol.
My call sign on the police radio was “Stripper” (yes, there’s a story behind that , no I’m not sharing that with you. I’ve gotta have a secret or 2 😅)

(I can’t believe I did that, what a ride)

Quick 36-hour trip to Washington, D.C., where I had the tremendous honor of receiving the Public Service Award from the International Leadership Foundation (ILF) during its 2026 Leadership & Business Conference and Annual Scholarship & Awards Gala.

I am deeply grateful for this recognition and humbled to be acknowledged for my commitment to public service and I got to share this experience with my Legislative Director, Janine Acquafredda, and my Executive Assistant, Julianna Kent.

Shout out to my district office staff, who held things down back home and continued to serve our constituents while we were away.

Thank you to the International Leadership Foundation for this incredible honor. I remain committed to serving the people of District 17 with integrity, humility, and purpose.
