FROM THE WINY RADIO NEWSROOM: (BROOKLYN) This evening at 7 pm there will be a Town Forum held at the Brooklyn Middle School to discuss matters related to Day Street as well as the Town’s fire and emergency services.

Brooklyn First Selectman Joe Bellavance went into more detail when he came on the WINY Talk Show on Wednesday morning.

β€œThere will be a lot of discussion on Day Street and the future of Day Street, as well as our public safety services for the fire and ambulance services,” Bellavance explained. β€œ(Day Street) continues to erode and we have to seek a permanent solution and work with our community to determine what that is and then start the ball rolling as far as finding the financing and getting the permits in place and such, but it’s not getting better. As most of us know, we shut down the Brooklyn Fire District. As of October 1st, those assets will be turned over to the Town. A lot of conversations will be about our two fire companies, what kind of protective services are we getting, what do we want for protective services as a community, and having that discussion in terms of what that looks like a year from now.”

For information on how to access this meeting virtually, please see the Town of Brooklyn website.
