Morgan County EMS Association

Morgan County EMS Association It is our mission to provide physical and emotional support during devastating events that negatively Morgan Co. Our support comes solely from donations as well.

EMS Association began meeting in November of 2002 following a tornado, which swept through our community just two months prior. Following the tornado, a post-incident analysis was conducted which revealed that, while Morgan County possesses many EMS-certified personnel, as well as several different EMS response agencies both transport and non-transport, there was little to no mutual-aid EMS traini

ng among services and providers. In addition, Morgan County possessed very little Mass Casualty EMS supplies at that time. EMS Association would regularly meet each month of every year with the exception of the month of December to train our local EMS providers mutually so that in the event of our next disaster, every agency responds with the same manner of care. As training trends shifted towards more regional offerings and to an online format, the mission of our organization had to change as we realized our attendance was slowly diminishing. We now focus our mission on supporting the public safety community in Morgan County through our Mobile Support Unit and two Mass Casualty EMS Supply Trailers that can be deployed anywhere in the county to support our First Responders and the residents during times of disaster. In the past, we charged a minimal fee to be a member of our organization. We have shifted away from that since we are no longer providing a monthly service in return. Now, we look to the community for assistance in keeping our response units stocked and ready for deployment. Through our partnership with the Morgan County Community Foundation, all donations are tax-deductible. The Community Foundation maintains our books and collects any donations we may receive. 100% of your donation goes directly to supporting our mission. Our President runs our organization in a strictly volunteer capacity so he can ensure your donation is put to the best and most effective use.

We were recently awarded a grant for $993.00 from the Community Foundation of Morgan County. We are so honored to be the recipient of these funds. With this grant, we were able to purchase a new ice machine, a hotdog cooker, and we put fuel in our response unit. We now have 2 coolers fully stocked with drinks and constantly kept on ice. For the really long incidents or ones that go through meal times, we can now cook nearly 20 hotdogs at once so the First Responders will have snacks during long-term call-outs. We are sincerely grateful for the Community Foundation and we highly encourage you to support their efforts.

We would like to send out a heart-felt THANK YOU to the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana, Local 4214, Martinsville fire Dept. for their very generous $500.00 donation to our Rehab Support Unit. Our unit is fully funded by donations and their donation will help pay for the continuing rising costs of fuel. With the excessive heat setting in, it could be a busy week for our team. Thank you again, Martinsville Fire Fighters!!

Good idea here. Our friends at Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department are already looking ahead and preparing for the significant snowfall predicted. Help out your local department and clear out around those hydrants!!

With 6 to 12 inches of snow predicted over the next 72 hours, it will be very difficult for your local fire department to locate fire hydrants once the snow stops falling and the snow plows move the snow off the roadways. Please help us out and remove a 3' x 3' space of snow from around any fire hydrants that may be in or near your front yard. This will help us quickly locate the hydrants and quickly hook up to them if necessary.

We want to send out a huge THANK YOU to our friends at Bowen Excavating for their very generous donation of lots of snacks, cups, and gloves for our Rehab unit. This stuff has been stocked on the truck and will be available to our First Responders the next time they are working an extended incident like a house fire. We are always willing to accept donations. This unit is solely supported by donations so every little bit helps! God Bless you all!
