🚨 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 🚨
📅 April 12–18, 2026

The Brooklyn Police Department would like to take a moment to recognize and thank all of the dispatchers serving Morgan County.

They are the calm in the chaos.
The steady voice when everything else is falling apart.
The first, the fast, and the always.

While the public may never see them, we hear them—every single day—guiding us, protecting our community, and making sure help gets where it needs to go.

Their dedication, composure, and compassion do not go unnoticed.

To our partners at Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch, —and all telecommunicators everywhere—
Thank you for being the unseen heroes behind every call.

📞 Answering the call. Every call.

🚨 BROOKLYN POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

The Brooklyn Police Department is excited to share some unique news with our community.

Earlier this week, the department was approached by a private donor who wished to remain anonymous but expressed a strong desire to support community engagement efforts here in the Town of Brooklyn. After several discussions and coordination, we are proud to announce that we have officially accepted the donation of a specialty patrol and community outreach vehicle.

This vehicle, while unconventional in design, will be utilized for a variety of purposes including:

- Community events and parades

- School visits and youth outreach programs

- Public safety demonstrations

- Special holiday appearances and town celebrations

Our goal has always been to strengthen relationships with the community we serve, and we believe this addition will allow us to connect with residents—especially our younger community members—in a fun, memorable, and engaging way.

The vehicle has already undergone an initial inspection and has been outfitted with emergency lighting to ensure it meets safety standards when displayed or operated during approved events. While it will not be used for traditional patrol operations, it will serve as a highly visible and approachable platform for officers to interact with the public.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the donor for their generosity and their continued support of law enforcement and community partnerships.

Photos of the new vehicle are included below. We look forward to bringing it out at upcoming events and seeing the smiles it brings to our community.

Alright… before anyone calls dispatch asking who’s driving the hot dog down Main Street—

🛡️ Thank You to the United States Deputy Sheriffs Association 🛡️

The Brooklyn Police Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to the United States Deputy Sheriffs Association (USDSA) for their generous donation of a Level III ballistic shield.

This critical piece of protective equipment enhances officer safety during high-risk incidents and allows our officers to better protect themselves while responding to dangerous situations. Most importantly, equipment like this helps ensure our officers can continue to serve and protect our community safely and effectively.

The USDSA is a nonprofit organization that supports law enforcement agencies across the United States by providing much-needed equipment and resources. We are grateful for their continued commitment to officer safety and public service.

Thank you again to the United States Deputy Sheriffs Association for investing in the safety of our officers and the Brooklyn community.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – BROOKLYN POLICE DEPARTMENT 🚨

We have been made aware of a fraudulent “Notice of Infraction Hearing – Toll Violation” being circulated by text message.

Let’s be clear: THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT REAL.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

🔴 The Courts typically will NEVER text you about fines, fees, or court matters.
🔴 Courts do not send payment demands via text message or QR codes.
🔴 Any message pressuring you to “pay now” or scan a QR code is a major red flag.
🔴 These scams are designed to steal your money and personal information.
🔴 There are no Toll Roads in Central Indiana!

💡 What you should do:
• Do NOT click links or scan QR codes
• Do NOT send payment
• Delete the message
• Report it as spam

If you ever receive something like this and aren’t sure—call us. We’d rather answer a question than have you get burned.

Stay sharp. If it smells like a scam… it is.

Do not scan QR.

The Brooklyn Police Department is keeping the Beech Grove Police Department in our thoughts tonight following an incident that resulted in two of their officers being injured in the line of duty.

When one department hurts, we all feel it. The risks taken by law enforcement officers each day are real, and tonight two officers and their families are carrying that weight firsthand.

We ask our community to join us in lifting up the injured officers, their families, and the entire Beech Grove Police Department in your thoughts and prayers. We stand with our brothers and sisters in blue and hope for a full and swift recovery.

Stay strong, Beech Grove. We’ve got your back.

Attention MSD of Martinsville students:

The MSD of Martinsville will operate on an Asynchronous eLearning Day on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Asynchronous eLearning does not involve live instruction, meaning there are no scheduled virtual lessons. Students have five (5) school days to complete any assigned lessons and activities on Google Classroom or SeeSaw. This flexibility allows students to work from home or complete assignments once they return to school.

Teachers will support students and help them with any assigned work when they return to the classroom.

Thank you and stay safe, Artesians.

🚨 TRAVEL WARNING – THIS IS NOT A DRILL (OR A SUGGESTION) 🚨

Morgan County EMA has issued a RED Travel Warning ❄️🚫

If you don’t absolutely need to be out in this weather—don’t go out. This is the kind of snow that makes roads disappear and turns “I’ll be fine” into “why did I do this?”

🚜 Road crews are out and working hard, but conditions are such that:
• Some roads are completely covered
• You may not be able to tell if you’re on the roadway or in a field
• Even after a road is plowed, it may only take minutes for it to be covered by snow again

If you must travel:
• Use extreme caution
• Slow down
• Increase following distance
• And for the love of good decisions… TAKE YOUR TIME

🚓 Officers are out, but we’d much rather not meet you tonight. Stay home, stay safe, and let the snow win this round.

🚨 SEVERE WINTER WEATHER ALERT – BROOKLYN EDITION 🚨

❄️ Attention citizens with full-coverage insurance:
This weather has chosen you. If you’ve ever thought, “I’m a great driver,” winter has filed a formal appeal. Snow, ice, and bad decisions are all in the forecast. Drive like your deductible depends on it—because it does.

😐 Now for the serious part (because winter doesn’t care about jokes):
The Brooklyn Street Department has been out pretreating the streets in town. This helps reduce ice formation—but it does not eliminate it.

There is never a definitive amount of snowfall, and with frigid temperatures, ice can still form and impact road conditions quickly and unexpectedly. Roads that look “fine” can still be slicker than a penguin in dress shoes.

🚗 What this means for you:
• Slow down
• Increase following distance
• Avoid unnecessary travel if possible
• Give plow and street crews room to work
• Assume bridges, intersections, and shaded areas are icy (because they probably are)

📞 Need help?
• Emergency: Call 911
• Non-Emergency Assistance: Call (765) 342-5544

Stay warm, stay smart, and let’s all get through winter without testing our airbags or insurance limits. ❄️🧊
