At JCCGCI, our mission is rooted in caring for others. This week, we took time to focus on something equally important: caring for ourselves🧘🍃🐶🐕💪🏻

On Tuesday, approximately 50 staff members from across our organization came together at the Marien Heim Older Adult Center for JCCGCI’s first-ever Employee Wellness Event. The afternoon was dedicated to rest, connection, learning, and self-care, providing an opportunity for colleagues from different programs and departments to come together and focus on their well-being.

The afternoon featured a variety of wellness-focused experiences, including time with adorable puppies, a hands-on activity where employees created personalized bath salts with herbs and essential oils, and a live cooking demonstration showcasing nutritious Mediterranean-inspired power bowls. Staff also benefited from an engaging presentation by Dr. Dulande Louis on managing stress, preventing burnout, and prioritizing mental well-being in helping professions.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this special day possible and to the staff members who joined us. Events like these serve as an important reminder that investing in the well-being of our team strengthens our ability to serve our community with compassion, excellence, and care.

After months of recovery, we’re finally back home ❤️‍🩹👷‍♂️

Following extensive flooding caused by a ruptured sprinkler pipe, JCCGCI ‘s headquarters in Coney Island was forced to temporarily close while critical repairs and restoration work took place. Throughout the process, our dedicated staff continued serving the thousands of individuals and families who rely on us every day.

Today, we’re proud to share that our headquarters has officially reopened, and our Coney Island Seaside Innovative Older Adult Center is once again bustling with activity, connection, and community.

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the support of our partners, and the resilience of our community. While the recovery journey came with challenges, it also reminded us of the strength that comes from working together.

Thank you to everyone who helped us navigate this chapter. We’re excited to continue serving our community from our restored home 🏢💙

Last week, JCCGCI had the privilege of partnering with Salesforce and their Shalomforce team to host a meaningful day of care and connection for the Holocaust survivors we serve.

Survivors gathered for a beautiful lunch and the opportunity to share stories and develop friendships with Salesforce staff.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this experience so meaningful- our dedicated JCCGCI staff, the incredible Salesforce team, and Shabbat Angels for their continued commitment to supporting Holocaust survivors and for helping bring this partnership together.

Last week, we partnered with L’Oréal Mishpachah to host a special day for Holocaust survivors in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The event brought together survivors for a full day of pampering, starting with a delicious breakfast and followed by personalized beauty and wellness services, including hair styling, nail care, and makeup consultations.

Throughout the day, survivors spent time together talking, laughing, and enjoying a calm, welcoming space designed just for them! The gathering concluded with a L’dor V’dor themed dessert buffet, gift bags, and a shared moment centered on remembrance and community. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this day meaningful- our amazing JCCGCI staff, the L’Oréal Mishpachah team, and Shabbat Angels for always thinking about how to support survivors & for connecting us🤍
