Boycotts have long been a powerful nonviolent tool for collective action, from the Civil Rights Movement to the fight against apartheid in South Africa. We believe members have the right to advocate for ethical sourcing and accountability.

Saturday, May 17, 2026—
Our ongoing anti-war vigil each Saturday (since January) continues. We are always at Flatbush Avenue and Hanson Place, right next to the LIRR entrance in Atlantic Terminal shops. But this, another group was there as well: strikers representing five unions that have walked off their jobs in search of higher pay. They have been demanding that for three years as the ability of working families has declined and now, being rejected over and over by management, are saying "Enough is enough!'

We wished them success and told them that we supported them and they were thankful for that. Then we took up our vigil position nearby and continued to distribute flyers to passers-by. Many thousands of flyers have been distributed over many months. We are holding this vigil to stand up and say NO! to Trump's policy of threats and war, both at home (ICE) and abroad: Cuba, Venezuela, Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. Most who passed expressed agreement. Some said they would call Congress, as the flyer urged, to demand a War Powers Resolution that could still Trump's wars.

★★ We'll be back again next Saturday, May 23rd, at 2:00 p.m.
