๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Happy Pride Month!

Every June, we proudly honor the vibrant history, diverse voices, and invaluable contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, whose impact continues to shape and enrich our world. Our LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and allies work year-round to foster education and solidarity through engaging workshops, cultural events, affinity spaces, and active student clubs.

Central to this mission is our LGBTQ Resource Center at Brooklyn College, which provides a dedicated, inclusive, and supportive environment focused on advocacy, resources, and community-building.

๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ… Introducing Emersen Bribiesca โ€™26, our Class of 2026 Valedictorian!

Bribiescaโ€™s path to Brooklyn College began at West Point - The U.S. Military Academy, where he studied history and English and led the Academyโ€™s LGBTQ+ diversity organization. After leaving, he moved to Brooklyn and threw himself into advocacy workโ€”volunteering at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center serving free breakfasts with Gay For Good - New York, and digitizing collections at Park Slopeโ€™s Le***an Herstory Archives.

Bribiesca restarted his education at the Borough of Manhattan Community College/CUNY, earning an associate degree in computer science. While studying, he worked full-time at a Downtown Brooklyn feminist law firm assisting abuse and discrimination survivors. He also combined tech with advocacy through Out in Techโ€™s Digital Corps, building websites for global LGBTQ+ nonprofits.

Upon transferring to Brooklyn College, Bribiesca was named a Point Foundation Transfer Scholar. In his first semester, he entered the tech industry as a legal operations analyst at Datadog. By his final semester, he joined a Brooklyn College research project using AI to analyze Wall Street filings for CUNY finance and computer science courses.

Bribiesca lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two cats, frequently running in Prospect Park to train for his third marathon this fall. Post-graduation, he will continue his tech career and digital social justice work.

Congratulations on your incredible journey, Emersen. We can't wait to see what you achieve next!
