September is National Service Dog Month!
Service dogs, regardless of breed, are specially trained to assist individuals with disabilities in their daily activities. These dogs can perform a wide range of tasks, such as alerting their handlers to impending medical emergencies, retrieving medications, providing balance support, and helping to manage psychiatric conditions, and more.
This month, we celebrate service dogs, and also the trainers and caregivers who dedicate their time to these animals. We recognize the profound, life-changing effects service dogs have on people with disabilities. Access to a service dog can offer increased independence, confidence, and joy, enabling their partners to fully embrace life.
