Brookline Police Celebrates Labor Day!

BPD would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all workers who contribute to the fabric of our community. From healthcare professionals and educators to service industry workers, retailers, and everyone in between – your efforts make our society function and thrive.

This holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to:

Detectives are asking for your help in identifying this individual who may have been involved in a package theft incident that occurred on Browne St just before midnight on 08/14/26.

Subject is described as a light-skinned female, wearing leggings, a t-shirt, and sandals. She appears to have a tattoo on her right upper arm and was seen operating a white SUV.

September is Emergency Preparedness Month!

Each Sunday during the month of September, we will be highlighting important tips to properly prepare for an emergency. MEMA has offered safety advice for a variety of scenarios that we’ll share throughout the month on social media.

National Preparedness Month began in 2004 as a U.S. government initiative to raise awareness about disaster readiness. Observed each September, it encourages Americans to plan for emergencies like natural disasters, pandemics, and other crises. The month promotes creating emergency kits, making family plans, and staying informed about potential local hazards. Over the years, it has evolved to address new threats and utilize social media for broader outreach.

This week we recognized International Overdose Awareness Day and join communities across the country in raising awareness about the dangers of illicitly manufactured fentanyl.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid. Illicitly manufactured fentanyl can be found in counterfeit prescription pills and mixed into other drugs, including co***ne and M**A. Because these drugs are produced illegally and without quality control, a person may not know that fentanyl is present or how much they are being exposed to.

Here's a few important facts:
• Illicit fentanyl can be up to 50 times more potent than he**in and 100 times more potent than morphine.
• Counterfeit pills can be made to look like legitimate prescription medications such as oxycodone, Percocet, or Xanax.
• Any pill or powder not prescribed by a doctor may contain fentanyl.
• Knowing the signs of an opioid overdose and having naloxone (Narcan) available can save a life.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately and request emergency medical assistance. Signs of an overdose may include unresponsiveness, pinpoint pupils, irregular breathing, or an inability to speak.

Education and open conversations can help protect our community. Talk with your children, friends, and loved ones about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills.

Please join Brookline Fire Department NEXT Friday, September 11, 2026 for their annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we will unite to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and reflect on the lasting impact of 9/11 on our nation and our communities.

Together with our town partners, we invite our community to join Brookline Fire Department for a flag lowering ceremony of remembrance, reflection, and unity.

Detectives are asking for your help in identifying these individuals who may have been involved in a shoplifting incident at a local retail store in Coolidge Corner.

Subject #1 is described as an Asian female, wearing a beige cardigan, white shirt, blue jeans, grey sneakers. Subject #2 is an Asian male wearing a brown shirt, black pants, blue baseball cap, glasses. Subject #2 acted as a lookout.

BPD spent the morning with some of Brookline’s most dedicated educators to review safety and security protocols for the upcoming school year.

In collaboration with BPS, Officer Kerrigan from our Training Staff and Officer Conneely our BHS Youth Resource Officer were welcomed into Brookline High School for an updated refresher about school safety which continues to be an important issue facing schools.

This pre-planned training reminded faculty and staff about active threat procedures and offered tools for decision making during critical incidents.

Thank you BHS for your hospitality and being such great community partners!
