Our incredible Teens and Elementary Club members recently participated in Chalk the Walk, and we couldn’t be prouder. Brookings Area United Way

Through colorful artwork and encouraging messages, they helped spread hope, promote connection, and raise awareness about 988, the National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

As we observe National Su***de Prevention Month, these messages serve as powerful reminders that kindness matters, support is available, and no one has to face challenges alone. A simple message of encouragement can brighten someone's day and help build a stronger, more connected community.

Thank you to our Teen and Elementary Club members for using their creativity, compassion, and voices to make a positive impact. Together, we're helping create a community where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

A special shoutout to Trendz for their partnership in supporting Thread Theory at the Brookings Teen Center! 👏

Thread Theory allows teens to browse donated clothing and pick out pieces that match their style, build confidence, and meet their needs. We love seeing members take their time exploring the racks and finding something they're excited to wear.

Every kid deserves a safe place to belong, caring adults who believe in them, and the chance to discover their potential.

Every day, Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains serves 1,000+ kids across 24 sites reaching 4,500+ South Dakota youth each year.

Last year we:

🍎 Provided 384,723 meals and snacks

🎓 Helped 89% of Club youth stay on track to graduate

💙 Turned no child away because of inability to pay

These numbers tell a story of impact… but we need YOU to Keep the Ball Rolling.🏀

Great job to our Diversion and Teen Center Staff on coming together to create our community mural!

The theme of the mural is “What Does Community Mean to the Boys & Girls Club?” Through the creativity and ideas of our youth and staff, this mural is becoming a meaningful reflection of what community means to us.

We can’t wait to see it finished and share this special piece with the community! 💙

This summer, our Teen Center members brushed up on their outdoor skills with a Camping 101 session led by Joe Salvati from the Brookings County Outdoor Adventure Center! From camping etiquette to practical outdoor tips, our teens gained valuable knowledge and confidence for their next adventure.

We are offering two additional Family Orientation sessions for those who were unable to attend earlier this month.

September 2 at 12:00 PM
September 3 at 5:15 PM

📍 Both sessions will be held at the Brookings Teen Center.

If you have not yet attended an orientation, please plan to join us at one of these dates. As a reminder, all families are required to attend a Family Orientation before participating in Club programming.

Moo-tiful day for some hands-on learning! 🐮🌾

Our teen members traded the club for the barn and got a firsthand look at the care, commitment, and hard work that go into raising livestock. From meeting calves to learning where our food comes from, it was a day full of discovery.
