Yesterday was a great day for SDSU and South Dakota agriculture!

I enjoyed joining SDSU and members of our ag community to celebrate the expansion of the Swine Education and Research Facility.

It was especially meaningful after supporting HB 1118 during this year’s legislative session, which authorized SDSU to invest $1.72 million in donated funds into this expansion.

The project increases capacity, expands hands-on learning and research opportunities for students, and strengthens SDSU’s ability to support South Dakota’s pork industry through innovation and applied research.

I’m grateful for the partnership of our pork, corn, and soybean industries that helped make this investment possible. It’s a great day to be a Jackrabbit!

What a beautiful day at South Dakota State University for the dedication of the H.O.P.E. Helix of Resistance, honoring the life, work, and legacy of Dr. Edgar S. McFadden.

Dr. McFadden’s work in wheat genetics helped develop disease-resistant varieties that strengthened agriculture not only in South Dakota, but far beyond our state. It was wonderful to hear the stories of his life and contributions and to see that legacy captured in such a meaningful piece of art.

Grateful to have been there this afternoon to celebrate a remarkable South Dakotan and a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of students, researchers, and agricultural leaders.

Serving as a Page for the 2027 South Dakota Legislature gives high school students a firsthand look at the legislative process; lets them participate in legislative committees, floor sessions, and special events; and may even be their first step to greater things in the future. Serving as Governor, maybe? It worked for 2026 Pages Coltyn and Quynn!

South Dakota has an important choice to make in this election for Governor of our great state.

With Governor Larry Rhoden, we know his character, we know his values, and we know how hard he'll work every day for the people of South Dakota.

I'm happy to endorse Governor Larry Rhoden for Governor, and I hope you'll join me by voting anytime between now and July 28.
