The first day of school is Thursday, August 27th!

As students head back to the classroom, the Brookfield Police Department reminds everyone to SLOW DOWN, STAY ALERT, and SHARE THE ROAD.

🚗 Drivers:
• Watch for children in school zones and near bus stops
• Stop for school buses when required
• Put your phone down and eliminate distractions
• Allow extra time for your commute

🚌 Students & Parents:
• Use crosswalks and sidewalks whenever available
• Look both ways before crossing
• Stay alert around traffic and school buses

Let’s work together to make sure everyone gets to school and back home safely!

The Brookfield Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Bridgeport Police Officer Cooper Whiteside and Brittany Islami.

Officer Whiteside was a familiar face around Brookfield and a friend to many of our officers. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of serving as a police officer, and his compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Whiteside and Islami families, the members of the Bridgeport Police Department, and all who are mourning this heartbreaking loss.
