MAPLE AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE – SATURDAY PAVING OPERATIONS
The Maple Avenue Street Improvement Project is moving quickly, and the contractor is ready to begin milling the asphalt roadway surface from Veterans Circle to Brookfield Avenue.
In order to minimize the impact on school and rush hour traffic, particularly near S.E. Gross Middle School, the contractor intends to work a handful of Saturdays over the course of the next two months in order to complete the resurfacing work.
Tomorrow morning, Sept. 12, the contractor will begin milling the pavement from the Circle moving south so they can get past the school area. They plan to start very early, around 6 a.m., to impact traffic as little as possible.
They will maintain two-way traffic with flaggers, but delays should be expected while the work is being completed. Whatever they do not finish for the south half will be completed on Monday, Sept. 14.
They anticipate installing the first layer of asphalt on the south half the following Saturday, Sept. 17.
In early October the contractor will likely be working multiple Saturdays to install the final layer of asphalt on the south side and complete the milling and first layer of asphalt from the Circle to 31st Street.
We will provide additional information in the coming weeks as we obtain more information on work scheduling.
