It's finally here, tomorrow is the big day. If you see my patrol vehicle at my home in Brookfield, then I'm here, stop and visit. Most all of you see me buying my groceries at Walmart, buying my gas at Breaktime, taking my 6 year old to the Brookfield Pool several days a week. You all see me around Linn County day and night.

Thank you to everyone that has helped in my campaign from making signs, displaying signs, knocking on doors, if you've helped in any way THANK YOU!

I hope through all my efforts in keeping Linn County safe from removing impaired drivers from Linn County roads, getting methamphetamine off the streets, protecting your children, you all see my passion for law enforcement and Linn County.

Remember to get out and vote tomorrow. I would appreciate everyone to keep supporting me as you head to the polls.

Does everyone remember the story of Cinderella? You know the part where the evil stepmother tries to prevent Cinderella from going to the ball? Let me tell you what happened to me. First, there is no evil stepmother, there is no ball and there is no prince. This is not a fairy tale. My story is real.

July 29th, I received a message from Elizabeth Jackson from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) asking me to contact her. I called her back. Ms. Jackson wanted to know where I wanted my award sent? I didn’t know what she was referring to. Ms. Jackson told me she had contacted the Linn County Sheriff’s Office previously about the MADD Tri-Counties Law Enforcement Recognition Awards (held on July 5th) being bestowed on me. She added only 26 law enforcement officers were being honored from a total of 76 counties. I explained no one told me I was being honored. Ms. Jackson offered to present me the award in person on Wednesday, July 31, at her office in Jefferson City, MO.
After I finished speaking with Ms. Jackson, I immediately spoke with Interim Sheriff Melte, who denied any previous knowledge of me being a recipient of the MADD Tri-Counties Law Enforcement Recognition Awards. Interim Sheriff Melte told me she doesn’t check the general office email “often” because they usually are not important.” Interim Sheriff Melte then went onto blame the clerical employee(s) who forward her any emails needing her attention. Interim Sheriff Melte didn’t even have the professional courtesy to congratulate me instead asking if I nominated myself for this award!
I ask you, isn’t a deputy receiving this recognition important? I called another law enforcement official whom I respect and told him what occurred. He congratulated me and added it was wrong “but you know its election time.”
Even though it is election time I think it’s wrong not to check your general department emails daily. I think is wrong to obstruct an opposing candidate from such a richly deserved recognition, either by design or incompetence, and it is wrong to engage in such unprofessional and unethical behavior, especially during election time. What does that say about their character? What else is this person willing to do to win an election?
VOTE on August 6th!

My award presented by Ms. Jackson!

**** ENDORSEMENT ALERT ****

I have had the honor of working with Stacy Walton Stacy Sensenich Walton, my entire time as Prosecutor of Linn County from 2019 – 2022. I would sit with her in dispatch while she was a dispatcher, and then I had the honor of working with her when she elected to go back into law enforcement full-time. What has impressed me about Stacy Walton is her unwavering commitment to public service and her dedication to keeping all of us safe – especially our children. While I was her prosecutor, she never lied to me, or the County and she never put personal biases or considerations above her commitment to Linn County. Everyone was treated equally and fairly.

I had faith every day she would give her all to the county and I was proud to stand with her. Through her hard work, many children were kept safe and today enjoy a better future because of her tireless efforts. No day was too long for her when she was protecting a child. She also carried that dedication to saving lives in her tireless pursuit of keeping impaired drivers off the streets. She has led the county for the last few years in DWI investigations, a total of 56, meaning not only did she save the lives of those impaired drivers, but she also saved the lives of anyone they might have hurt or killed. She also has taken pounds of illegal drugs off the streets – including methamphetamine and he**in – saving the lives of the addicts who the dealers were peddling to - and holding those dealers accountable.

I have worked directly with all 3 candidates running for the position of Sheriff of Linn County. Of all 3, Stacy is the best qualified candidate – in overall experience, character, integrity, and dedication to the county. She is the only candidate who has consistently and without fail stood for this county and everyone in it. She has always put this county first and ensured the safety, well-being and future of many of the county, especially the children.

If you want someone to fight for you, who will never give up on your kids, who will hold others accountable – including herself, who will always listen, who will seek the best resources for her officers to best serve you, who lives in your county, and who cares more for her county than herself – then vote for Stacy Walton.

My time in Linn County was well-spent with Stacy Walton patrolling for you. The county has been safer because of her and will be well-served with her as your next Sheriff.

Take care and good luck.

I would like to share with you my visions for the Linn County Sheriff’s Office if the citizens of our community elect me as the next Linn County Sheriff. Having resided in Linn County my entire life, from my birth, to getting married to my husband, Kendall Walton, and choosing to raise our five children here. I love our community. I have been a foster parent helping children in need. I have served Linn County decades longer than either candidate running for this esteemed office. I have served as a dispatcher, police officer and now, as the Sergeant at the Sheriff Office. I understand our community, and as a result, I know what the Sheriff’s office could do to better support our community.
I will be sharing my thoughts and platform with you in the coming weeks. There are many things that are important to me including cross training deputies in Community Policing, Crisis Intervention Training, also known as C.I.T., Field Sobriety/DWI Detection and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement training, Notification & Enforcement of the S*x Offender list and investigations training. These training criteria are vital so our communities can be served by more professional deputies who become well-rounded and can perform at the level you, our citizens, deserve. I will be explaining my platform in greater detail over the next few weeks leading up to the election.
Today I would like to talk to you about Crisis Intervention Training (C.I.T.). You might be asking, why is C.I.T. so important? All deputies need to receive this training so they can recognize and respond to citizens in mental health crisis. C.I.T. doesn’t qualify you as a mental health counselor or therapist, but it can help us, law enforcement, to recognize some signs and symptoms of a mental health crisis. It gives us the tools and techniques that can be used to diffuse a situation in a professional and empathetic manner. C.I.T. reduces the arrests of citizens dealing with mental health issues and improves the chances that the citizen will receive mental health services. C.I.T. is also cost saving. According to National Alliance on Mental Health, in Detroit, the cost of housing an inmate with mental health issues is $31,000 per year, the cost of that same person receiving mental health services is $10,000. C.I.T. training in Memphis has reduced officer involved injuries by 80%.
Only the Interim Sheriff and I are certified in Crisis Intervention Training in our department, and that is not good enough for our community. Currently, our Deputies who encounter a citizen who is experiencing a mental health crisis must contact and wait for a supervisor to respond from where they reside to assist them. Our community deserves better. Let me state again, I have always resided full-time in Linn County.
Thank you and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
