The Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen essay topic for this year is "How are you showing patriotism and support for our country." This is a great question for our youth to ponder and submit an essay. If you would like a form, you can pick one up at Culligan or download it from the national VFW website under the community and youth and education tabs. The entry deadline is October 31, 2025.

A Final Salute for Wayne Mills

We invite our community to come together in a powerful show of respect and gratitude for our departed comrade Wayne Mills. Wayne, a very humble and kind man, was not only a devoted family man, but he was also a Purple Heart recipient, a WWII veteran, and a quiet pillar of service, faith, and love.

We are asking friends, neighbors, veterans and community members to line 1st street in Broken Bow with American flags as Wayne’s funeral procession makes its way from the Broken Bow United Methodist Church to Westerville Cemetery on Monday, June 16th. Flags will be available for pick up starting at 3:00 at 911 South 1st ( Peggy Neth's house) and we ask that you be respectfully in place by 3:45.

Let us stand in honor of a man who gave so much to his country and community. Let’s line his path with honor, love and patriotism.

The VFW Pancake, Ham & Egg Scholarship benefit is coming up next MONDAY, February 19th
We will be serving that day from 11-1 and again from 4-7!
Come out Monday, Presidents Day, and support your local VFW Post 3576! I have tickets at Culligan Water of Broken Bow or you can get them at the door. Adults: $7, Children 7 & under: $4!
