Over the past two years, the Chestnuthill, Jackson, Eldred, Ross, and Polk Township Regional Planning Committee has been working on an update to the CJERP Regional Comprehensive Plan. Throughout that process, I have shared updates, public meeting information, and the community survey in an effort to gather resident input.

The draft Comprehensive Plan is now available for public review on the Township website.

If you have followed the process from the beginning, thank you for your participation. If you missed the surveys, meetings, or previous updates, it is not too late to have your voice heard.

The draft plan will be reviewed by each of the regional partner Planning Commissions and will be on the agenda for the Chestnuthill Township Planning Commission meeting on June 17 at 7pm at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building. I encourage all residents to take some time to review the document and share any comments, concerns, or suggestions before the plan moves forward.

Whether you support the recommendations, disagree with certain elements, or simply have questions, this is the time to provide feedback.

We are excited to announce that our Pickleball Courts are under construction!!!

Please be advised that the Chestnuthill Township Park will be closed tomorrow from 6:00am to 6:00pm to allow for tree removal in the area of the Pickleball Courts. There may be additional park closures on Thursday (4/30/26), but we will keep you updated as tree removal progresses!

We apologize for the inconvenience; however, it is in the best interest for the safety of the park users and for the contractor performing the work for the park to be closed during tree cutting.

Be sure to keep an eye on the progress of the courts, but please also be mindful that it will be an active construction site. Please keep all children and persons away from the work area to avoid the potential for injury while construction is occurring.

We hope you are as excited as we are to add these courts to this amazing park!!

As this winter storm begins to move into Chestnuthill Township, I want residents to know that our road crews are prepared and ready to respond.

The Board of Supervisors has declared a Snow Emergency effective immediately. As snowfall increases, our crews will be out plowing and treating our 155 miles of township roads and will continue rotating through them as conditions develop.

Our emergency management staff is also on standby. If conditions worsen, we are prepared to activate our Emergency Operations Center and establish warming shelters should the need arise.

We strongly encourage residents to avoid unnecessary travel as the storm intensifies. Limiting traffic allows our crews to work more safely and effectively.

We will continue to monitor the storm closely and provide updates as needed. Please stay safe and thank you for your cooperation.

With a winter storm expected on Sunday, I want to take a moment to let everyone know that our Township road crew is ready. They’re stocked with salt and cinders and prepared to work through the storm to keep our roads as safe and passable as possible.

Our crew is responsible for maintaining 155 miles of township roadways, and during a storm like this that means long hours out in difficult conditions, covering those roads again and again as the weather changes. They take a lot of pride in their work and will be out there doing everything they can to keep our community moving safely.

If you’re able to stay off the roads and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, it truly helps them do their jobs more safely and efficiently. I appreciate the dedication of our road crew, and I thank our residents for their patience and cooperation as we work through this storm together.
