Happy ! 🍩

Treat yourself to a cream-filled donut today as a way to celebrate this lighthearted food holiday! As one of America's most beloved pastries, donuts first became widely popular in the U.S. in the early 1900s with the rise of industrialization (the first donut machine was invented in 1920) and commercialized bakeries that made donuts cheap, consistent, and mass‑produced.

Cream‑filled classic donuts like Boston cream, Bavarian, vanilla custard, whipped cream, chocolate‑filled, etc. are often credited as beginning in concept and creation around 1856 with the creation of the Boston Cream Pie. This dessert became the direct inspiration for the cream‑filled donut with bakers adapting the pie’s custard and chocolate profile into a portable donut form. It rapidly spread in popularity with bakers getting more creative with fillings as time went on. Today, many bakeries not only have cream but fillings like lemon, strawberry, maple, and even espresso cream.

What is your favorite cream-filled donut? Or do you prefer other kinds of fillings like jam? Let us know your favorite donut in the comments below! Be sure to snag one (or a dozen) for yourself, your family, friends, or coworkers and celebrate the day!

Wisconsin Monster Lore Part 1: The Dogman 🐺

The Wisconsin Dogman is one of the most well-known, documented, and popularized monsters of the state with sightings, stories, and legends tied close to home. The Beast of Bray Road, the most famous Dogman variant of Wisconsin, is rumored to frequent a spot only 15-20 miles from Brodhead.

The creature, described as a bipedal, canine‑headed monster with a wolf like face, pointed ears and glowing eyes is said to stand up to 7 ft tall. Witnesses say it possesses a muscular humanoid torso and the ability to run on both two legs and four. Most sightings occur near rural roads, forests, and farmland. While there have been no confirmed attacks, the creature is cited as territorial and aggressive and has been known to charge vehicles.

Bray Road, the epicenter of Dogman sightings, is surrounded by the rural landscape between Elkhorn, Jefferson, Albany, and Brodhead, a corridor of repeated reports dating back decades, the first documentation cited as early as 1936.

In 1936, a night watchman for the St. Coletta Convent (located in Jefferson County), Mark Schackelman, reported seeing a digging, wolf‑like humanoid at an Indigenous mound. This is considered the earliest 'modern' Dogman‑type sighting in Wisconsin.

Throughout the late 1980s–1990s the sightings at Bray Road peaked. Multiple witnesses reported a large upright canine feeding on roadkill, chasing cars, and watching them from ditches. Throughout the early 2000s to the present, Dogman reports have continued to expand across southern Wisconsin, the lore continuing to grow through national attention, news reports, radio shows, podcasts, and cryptid documentaries.

While many people have theories about what the Dogman might be, nothing has ever been confirmed. The most common argument is that it has to be some form of misidentified wildlife like a black bear or rogue wolf or even a coyote or hybrid canid. Others say it is a mangy dog with some form or ailment or bodily abnormality that could explain the odd look and reported upright behavior only more distorted by darkness, fear, or headlights. Others say it is simply a modern werewolf legend, a Bigfoot variant, a cultural phenomenon bred by local stories and hype, or even an unknown species.

Regardless, people have claimed to see "something." What do you think? Is there any truth to the Dogman legends of Wisconsin? Do you believe in the Beast of Bray Road? Or is it all a hoax?

🇺🇸 Patriot Day — September 11th, 2026.

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001, twenty-five years ago today. We recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and everyday citizens who showed extraordinary bravery in the face of tragedy.

May today remind us of the importance of kindness, service, compassion, and unity — the values that make communities and this nation strong.
