We’re thrilled to share some exciting news for Cougar Nation! 🎉

Izard County Consolidated STEM PreK has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas with the 2026 OEP Regional Early Childhood Education Quality Award!

This marks the first year the OEP has expanded its prestigious educational performance awards to include early childhood programs across Arkansas, making this recognition even more meaningful. The award honors programs that demonstrate exceptional quality based on multiple CLASS observations conducted throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

We are incredibly proud of our PreK staff for their dedication to creating engaging, supportive, and high-quality learning experiences for our youngest students. Their hard work and commitment to excellence are making a lasting impact every single day.

Please join us in congratulating our amazing PreK team on this well-deserved honor!

Alligators, stumps, tornadoes, and massive downpours didn’t exactly make for the most ideal state fishing tournament conditions… but none of it stopped our fishing team from giving it everything they had this weekend!

It has been a year full of growth, learning, and experience gained. With our oldest team members just now becoming juniors, there is so much to look forward to over the next several years.

Great work to these young anglers! We also want to send a huge thank you to all of the boat captains and volunteers who have helped along the way this year. We look forward to following this group as they continue to sharpen their skills, and we have no doubt they will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.

Proud of you, Cougars!

Four of our students spent several days last week sharpening their livestock evaluation and oral reasons skills at the University of Arkansas–Rich Mountain Livestock Judging Camp.

The camp provided students with valuable opportunities to learn from industry professionals while improving their ability to evaluate livestock and communicate their decisions through oral reasons.

We are excited to celebrate some outstanding accomplishments from the final-day contest:

🏆 Maddie Tanner
• 2nd High Individual in Cattle
• 3rd High Individual in Sheep & Goats
• 2nd High Individual in Reasons
• 3rd Overall High Individual, earning a $500 scholarship

🏆 Akynna Nielsen
• 2nd High Individual in Swine
• 4th Overall High Individual

🏆 Charleigh Barnes
• 3rd High Individual in Cattle (Beginner Division)

Congratulations to Maddie, Akynna, Charleigh, and Addie! We are proud of the time and effort they continue to invest in developing their livestock judging skills. The future is bright for our livestock evaluation program! 🐄🐖🐑

Good luck to the Izard County High School Fishing Team this weekend in the State Tournament!

The team was on the water bright and early this morning, launching by 5:00 a.m. and ready for two days of competition. We know they've put in the time, effort, and practice to prepare for this opportunity, and we're excited to see what they accomplish.

Here's hoping for full bags, big bass, and a lot of fun!

It’s official… Olivia Spray is the next John Brown University Lady Eagle! 🦅

This afternoon, we were honored to host the signing ceremony for Class of 2026 standout Olivia Spray, who has chosen to continue both her academic and athletic careers at John Brown University in Siloam Springs.

The impact Liv has made on basketball at Izard County has been tremendous. Through her hard work, determination, and competitive spirit, she has helped create countless memories for Cougar Nation and has represented our school with pride every step of the way.

While we’re excited to see what the future holds for her as a Lady Eagle, we’re also incredibly grateful for everything she has given to our school, her teammates, and our community. Thank you, Liv, for the memories, the dedication, and the example you’ve set for those who will follow in your footsteps.

We can’t wait to watch your next chapter unfold and will be cheering you on every step of the way. Congratulations, Liv, and best of luck at John Brown University!

Once a Cougar, always a Cougar. 🖤🐾

Your Cougar football team hit the road this week to compete in the 7-on-7 at Highland, and it was a great opportunity to continue building toward the upcoming season!

The Cougars showed plenty of competitiveness throughout the day, matching up against larger schools and proving they can compete with anyone when they execute. Quarterback Kane Johnson threw 11 touchdown passes, while James Down made his presence felt on defense with four interceptions.

Head Coach Carr Hill shared, “I was proud of our effort and competitiveness. Our kids represented Izard County the right way all day. We have a lot of work left to do, but it was a good step forward for our program.”

Summer work continues, and we’re excited to see this team keep growing. Keep working, Cougars!
