FOUR BROCKTON POLICE OFFICERS HONORED AT THE 126TH MASSACHUSETTS POLICE ASSOCIATION CONVENTION
Four Brockton Police officers received awards on October 22, 2026, for their actions during two separate incidents.
LIFE SAVING MEDAL
We are proud of Brockton Police OFFICERS JOSEPH GOBBI AND JOSEPH PHANOR for their extraordinary bravery and quick thinking, which earned them the Lifesaving Medal. On March 2, 2026, officers responded to a call involving a stabbing and arrived at a highly volatile scene. While the armed suspect was still on the premises, Officers Gobbi and Phanor quickly began lifesaving aid on the victim. Officers Gobbi and Phanor immediately focused on a critically injured woman bleeding profusely from multiple life-threatening wounds. Without regard for their own safety, they jumped into action: Officer Gobbi applied immediate pressure to slow the severe bleeding, and Officer Phanor deployed a tourniquet to stabilize the victim. These early, rapid, lifesaving measures prevented a tragedy.
MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL
We are proud of Brockton Police DETECTIVE ZINHA ROSA-ANDRADE AND OFFICER BRUNO MOEDA for their extraordinary bravery, which earned them the Meritorious Service Medal. On December 22, 2025, responding to a break-in in progress, Detective Rosa-Andrade entered a highly chaotic scene, immediately locating a severely injured victim and an aggressive suspect. When the suspect attempted to use a child as a human shield, Detective Zinha Rosa-Andrade and Officer Moeda demonstrated incredible restraint and tactical skill. De-escalating a critical hostage situation without using lethal force, the officers safely secured the suspect and protected the child. Their quick response and actions undoubtedly saved lives and prevented a tragedy.
Congratulations to Officers Gobbi, Phanor, Moeda, and Detective Rosa-Andrade. We want to thank the Massachusetts Police Association for recognizing them.
