The BFD would like to send out a special thank you to some folks that remembered them on Friday's Day of Caring last week. Thank you to Brent Matherly and Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home for providing Subway sandwiches. Thank you to Community Bank for the awesome cherry pie. Also, thank you to Linda Triglet's BMS reading class for making an awesome poster and cards for the firefighters to enjoy!

It's training time once again! Bristow firefighters, including four full-time and one volunteer, will begin a 40-hour Firefighter II course at Central Tech in Drumright given by OSU-FST beginning this evening.

A Firefighter II may operate under general supervision and may be expected to lead a group of equally or lesser trained personnel through the performance of a specified task. Some of the duties addressed include fire suppression, rescue and extrication, ventilation, loss control, fire prevention and public life safety education among others. A Firefighter II is considered a "complete" firefighter. (per the Essentials of Fire Fighting manual)

Several Bristow firefighters will be spending their weekend at Central Tech in Drumright taking a 16-hour Vehicle Extrication class. Vehicle extrication has become much more complex with hybrid vehicles and today's technology, so it's important to stay current in their training. There will be a half day spent in class and the other 1-1/2 days spent practicing the different techniques and scenarios.
