Once again, the City of Bristol finds itself publicly embarrassed by the state legislator representing the 77th district. It is happening so frquently we are starting to lose count of all these embarrassing moments. For the record, here's a quick review:
- A few years ago, it was appropriately pointed out that her purchase of a gated home on Chippens Hill was in the 78th District, not the 77th District that she was elected to represent. Until the Legislature gerrymandered the lines to accommodate her move to a very expensive home, she claimed she had taken a studio apartment above a smoke shop on Rt. 6 in order to subvert the rules.
-In 2022, she left a nasty note calling a constituent a “foreclosed loser," asking them if they knew "who they were dealing with" when she was called out for parking illegally in someone's driveway in order to attend a fundraiser in the neighborhood.
-In February of this year, Representative Pavalock could not resist dressing up in costume and making a spectacle of herself in front of the Governor and the entire General Assembly during the legislature's opening ceremonies. The stunt caused the Speaker of the House to chastise her publicly, and it was also cited as the reason why the Independent Party decided to withhold their endorsement this year.
-And just days ago, she publicly taunted constituents who do not share her political views and publicly posted pictures of their home with a false narrative in which she hurled insults at the family. In other Facebook comments, she ridicules another Bristol resident for his occupation and income level. This time, however, these residents are fighting back and going public. And, people are supporting them.
Unfortunately, for the residents of the 77th district, these repeated juvenile performances are the only things she has delivered to the 77th in 10 years in the legislature. Her ineffectiveness as a state representative is only outdone by the arrogance and menacing behavior that she confuses for leadership.
People across the country are paying attention to races to see if the Mid-Term elections will reflect dissatisfaction with the direction this country is heading, considering the war, inflation, civil rights violations, and the lack of respect being shown to others. The people of Bristol do not need to watch Texas, Florida or any of the key races in the South. Voters in Bristol's 77th District can make their own political statement by ending the childish reign of terror that Cara Pavalock has created over the last 10 years.
This year, DeWayne Wynn, Jr. is the candidate running against Cara Pavalock. He is an executive with Habitat for Humanity focusing on the financial home ownership components to get people into homes at a time when housing is a major concern. He is raising a son when affordability and the funding of education quality are key local issues. None of these issues affect Cara - she lives on a secluded property on Chippens Hill, isn't worried about making her next mortgage payment, and pays for her son to attend a private school. She does not carry the same burden the majority of her district's constituents struggle with every day.
We need someone who takes the role of State Representative seriously and does the job that Bristol needs done, which is bringing resources back to Bristol. The 77th deserves who is a leader, not a bully. We believe DeWayne K Wynn Jr. is that person.
