Thank you to all the wonderful Participants who attended SLNC’s “Sanctuary & Survival: Conserving Our Native Birds at Home” last weekend!! And~ thank you to Raymie, SLNC’s awesome Assistant Director/Volunteer Coordinator, for presenting this excellent program!!❤️🌎🦅

UPDATE (8/31, 5pm): The SLNC Visitors’ Center Parking Lot is dry and has REOPENED!!
Special and huge thanks to the Bucks County General Services Team for the great job they did!!

UPDATE (on 8/31): the SLNC Visitors’ Center Parking Lot will REOPEN in the morning on Tuesday, 9/1/26.
Thank you for your understanding. (The paint needs more drying time!)

We sure do understand that Poison Ivy may not be everyone’s favorite plant, but it is a Native Plant in PA and is also an important part of our ecosystem. Wildlife benefits from it in many ways as birds and other animals eat its berries and foliage. The “hairy vine” also provides shelter and nesting areas.

The downside, of course, is that Poison Ivy contains urushiol, an oily substance that can cause an itchy skin rash when it comes into contact with people who are sensitive to it.

We try best to keep it off the Trails (so please remember to stay on the Trails). Staying on the Trails helps protect sensitive habitat, allows Native Plants like Poison Ivy (and many other Native Plants) to remain where they belong, and helps keep you and wildlife safe.

So please lookout for Poison Ivy (& not touch it), AND please also remember ~ it may be itchy to us, but it plays an important role in Nature. Thank you!! ❤️🌎
