Just announced... Virginia High School is the #10 High School in America in the W!SE financial literacy exam!!! We have been in the top 100 for multiple years in a row, and this is our second time being in the 10 top of ALL high school's in America in personal finance after finishing 6th back in 2023!!!

We had 3 students represent VA High at the Regional SkillsUSA competition for Automotive Technology!
Automotive Technology had 6 students pass all 10 of their Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams this school year! Many of them are already working in the field and have jobs lined up after high school! Proud of these students, instructor Junior Hayden, and all of their hard work! 🔧 🛞

CTE Student of the Month for May, representing Nurse Aide and nominated by instructor, Kayla Keener, is junior Anna Gray! Anna has officially passed her Virginia state CNA written and skills exam and is now a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)! Her and her cohort did a fantastic job this school year! Big shoutout to instructor, Kayla Keener, who overcame an enormous amount of challenges starting late in the year and as a first year teacher but absolutely rocked it with her students, regardless! So proud of Anna and our entire CNA program!
This wraps up our CTE Students of the Month for the 2025-2026 school year. Stay tuned and we will be back in August for a new school year and a new CTE Student of the Month!

Bearcat Senior Singing Day 2026!
We are SO proud of ALL of our seniors who signed their letter of intent for athletic scholarships, job placements, and a Marine enlistment! We have SO many amazing seniors who have a ton to be proud of! We know they are going to go on to represent Virginia High in a positive way in their future post-graduation placements!
VHS Graduation is Friday, May 22nd at 7pm in our main gym. Come out and help us celebrate these amazing young adults and everything they have accomplished!

Bristol Ettique Luncheon last week with TN High and VA High CTE students at the renovated Old Bristol VA Post Office downtown with our local TV celebrity Chef T who provided a tremendous learning experience for our students! Our Bearcat Bridge program, with the steady guidance of Adriana Cox, has developed these students’ soft skill to prepare them for their future careers! Students were SO excited to learn proper dinning ettique, converse with community leaders, and enjoy some of the best food around!

We are less than a week away from the VHS plant sale! It is Wednesday, May 6th, 10am-6pm in the horticulture classroom (V01) off of Green Acres Rd. Friendly reminder that the last day to pre-order plants for the plant sale is Monday, May 4th. Pre-orders are not required.

I've added a few things to the inventory, like huge hanging baskets which are perfect for Mother's Day. I have a variety of plants and colors available (petunia, wandering dews, etc).

Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Adkins took Dual Enrollment Culinary I and II as well as Cosmetology III students to the prestigious Biltmore estate in Asheville, NC! Students took in the beautiful sites, gained historical perspective, and engaged in a professional culinary experience!
All students that attended represented VHS with the utmost dignity and integrity!
We are so proud of them!

VHS Rotary Teacher of the Year, Lisa Adkins, was recognized for her outstanding contributions as a Culinary Arts instructor this year and for the past 20 years! Our CTE department has seen multiple administrators over the years and she has served as department chair through it all, keeping the department on steady ground and providing excellent leadership both in the classroom and with her fellow peer CTE teachers. She has established a lasting legacy of culinary education excellence that will continue on for years to come!

CTE Student of the Month for April, representing Cosmetology, and nominated by instructor, Buffie Jones, is senior Kasey Walden! Kasey is preparing to take her Virginia state Cosmetology license exam in a couple weeks! She will be a licensed cosmetologist with over 800 hours of training hours documented in the past three years! She plans to use this license to begin her career in a salon directly out of high school! We are SO proud of her and all her hard work!
Stay tuned for our final CTE Student of the Month for the 2025-26 school year in May!

Sophomore, Liam Pratt, senior, Isabella Bosse, and sophomore, Lucy Foy, represented Virginia High School and won the UVA-Wise Regional Championship and have qualified as a top 10 team in the state to compete in the Virginia Personal Finance Challenge State Championships! They finished in the top 10 out of 110 teams across the commonwealth! These 3 students qualified out of 393 students in the commonwealth!
We are SO proud of these students and their hard work!
