The day has come…Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing begins tomorrow in Brisbane! The contractor will be starting in the upper streets shown in blue tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23rd and will follow the sewer mains as they work their way down to the Park before heading to the other side of Central Brisbane by Thursday, and wrapping up their work on Friday, the 26th. It’s a lot of ground to cover in 4 short days, so we appreciate your assistance in turning the faucet on and off for all sinks and plumbing fixtures before your testing day if they haven’t been used recently so that there’s water in the P-trap. This will prevent the smoke from entering your home. Note: you don’t have to be home during Smoke Testing, but it may be helpful if areas need to be ventilated. Remember, what the crew will be sending down manholes is like fog-machine smoke used in Halloween displays; the smoke is non-toxic to both humans and animals and clears up quickly. Read more about the work at brisbaneca.gov/SmokeTesting; you can also call Public Works at (415) 508-2130.

Just four months after getting underway with developing a concept plan for Parcel R at Sierra Point, we’re thrilled to report that at the 6/18/26 Council meeting, the Parcel R Park Development Plan was unanimously approved!

This milestone builds on work that began in 2022, when a master planning subcommittee - made up of representatives from the City Council, Parks & Recreation Commission, Open Space & Ecology Committee, Complete Streets Safety Committee, IDEA Committee, and Public Art Advisory Committee - first came together to help shape the future of this site.

Over the past year, Councilmembers Kern and Lentz, who serve on the Sierra Point Park Subcommittee, have collaborated closely with CMG, staff, and community members to develop a concept that fits within the project’s $1.9M budget & the 1.5 acres of City-owned land that make up the Parcel R raised mound located at the terminus of Sierra Point Parkway, adjacent to the Bay Trail and the Brisbane Marina.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the Plan across the finish line! Your thoughtful input, combined with CMG’s landscape architecture expertise, has produced a beautiful site plan that will become a vibrant, welcoming destination for boaters, visitors, and workers once built.

Never turn your back on the ocean!

Never turn your back on the ocean!

The Beach Hazards Statement for Pacific Coast beaches has been extended to now go through early Sunday morning. Long-period S-SW swell will continue to generate hazardous conditions at the beach, including sneaker waves and strong rip currents. Stay back from the water’s edge, stay off of jetties and piers, and NEVER turn your back on the ocean.

We’ve received a number of calls and emails regarding delays at the traffic signal serving Bayshore Boulevard, Tunnel Avenue, and Old County Road, and we appreciate residents taking the time to share what they’ve experienced. The issue has been intermittent, which made it difficult to observe initially, but staff have now witnessed the problem firsthand and are actively working with our traffic engineering partners to identify and correct the cause. In the meantime, temporary adjustments have been made to improve operations while a permanent solution is developed.
