Why don’t home builders pay for the impact of new growth such as the need for more schools?

In 27J Schools, they do. Since 2001, local homebuilders have voluntarily contributed more than $20 million to the district’s Capital Facility Fee Foundation to support the expansion of existing schools or construction of new schools. This unique public/private partnership was formed as the district began to experience massive enrollment growth caused by new residential development and, 25 years later, the Foundation continues to bridge the funding gap of new school construction. Homebuilders, D.R. Horton Colorado, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes and Richmond American Homes were recognized during the June 10 Board of Education meeting for their continued support of this foundation. Board of Education Directors, past and present, who have served on the Foundation were also recognized.

An important reminder for our Brighton High School community today. Thanks to our partners at Brighton Police Department for their continued commitment to school safety.

COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION:

Brighton Police Officers are conducting training today at Brighton High School until 5:00 p.m.

There will be a visible increase in patrol cars around the school. If you are in the area or neighborhood, you may also hear simulated noises coming from the school. Do not be alarmed, as this is a planned training. This training will not affect our normal patrols or operations.

That’s a lot of recognition!

The 27J Schools Board of Education recognized more than 50 high school students for receiving state and national honors and accomplishments during the spring semester. Recognitions ranged from athletic state championships to achievements in co-curricular competitions to individual scholarships.
