Last week, our officers spent time at the drive track putting their skills to the test. From vehicle control to reaction time and decision-making, this hands-on training helps our officers stay confident and prepared behind the wheel!

It’s all part of the work that goes into keeping our officers—and our community—safe.

UPDATE: As of 8:35 pm, both directions of the roadway are reopened.

UPDATE: The eastbound lanes of the roadway are reopened. The crossing arms are currently down but will be repaired tomorrow. Expect traffic delays in the area tomorrow while repairs take place.

TRAFFIC ALERT:

Brighton Police Officers are responding to a train crash involving a train and a car near W Bromley Ln and the Brighton Ford dealership. There are no injuries reported.

Please avoid W Bromley Ln and instead use E Bridge St.

We will provide an update when the train is moved.

COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION:

Brighton Police Officers are conducting training today at the Brighton Recreation Center, 555 N 11th Ave, until 3:00 p.m. The Rec Center will be temporarily closed during this time.

There will be a visible increase in patrol cars around the building. This training will not affect our normal patrols or operations.

Adams County Defendant Sentenced to Prison After Armed Assault and Dangerous Incident in Brighton

“Juan Cabrera’s violent actions put a child, a good Samaritan, and an entire neighborhood at risk,” said District Attorney Brian Mason. “This conviction and sentenced holds Mr. Cabrera accountable for his actions that day. I’m grateful to the individuals who stepped in to help and to the Brighton Police Department for their swift and thorough response.”

Tomorrow is the Brighton Flu Vaccine Clinic!

We’re teaming up with Walgreens to bring a Flu Vaccine Clinic to the Brighton Police Department, providing convenient access to flu vaccinations for our community!

When: Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10 AM - 2 PM
Where: The basement classroom at the Brighton Police Department, 3401 E Bromley Ln

This is a walk-up clinic, and no appointment is needed. A Walgreens Pharmacist and Pharmacy Techs will be administering the vaccines on-site. Most insurance plans will cover the cost of vaccines.

Our joint SWAT team with the Commerce City Police Department continues to sharpen its skills through realistic, scenario-based training designed to strengthen teamwork, communication, decision-making, and operational readiness.

This ongoing training reinforces the strong partnership between our agencies and ensures our teams are ready during critical incidents.

We’re committed to being prepared to protect and serve our community when it matters most.

🚨🚔 Our Weekly Crime Report is Live! 🚔🚨

One of the significant incidents for the week includes officers conducting a traffic stop, and the
driver, a 21-year-old male, was driving with a Colorado license that was denied. He was also on
probation for robbery!

Officers received consent to search the vehicle and located a fi***rm. A drum-style magazine was in the fi***rm with a 50-round capacity. A second large-capacity magazine with a 22-round capacity was located, along with 43.71 grams of m**h found during the search!

The man was placed into custody on felony charges for possessing a weapon by a previous offender and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Brighton Police Department for processing before being taken to the Adams County Detention Facility.

Great job to our officers for their commitment to keeping the Brighton community safe!

Recently, the Brighton Police Department Traffic Safety Unit responded to a property damage crash involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). During the crash investigation, multiple CMV violations were found. One of the violations was that the driver was driving without a license. We appreciate the Commerce City Police Department responding and conducting a CMV Investigation on the vehicle.

The driver was issued a summons for the crash and inspection violations. A properly licensed driver was brought to the scene to take the vehicle.

Our officers are committed to keeping our community safe by addressing unsafe driving practices and promoting safer roadways for everyone!
