Lately, constituents, friends, and neighbors have asked me about the real impacts that current efforts to cut Medicaid can have in our community. Unfortunately, many of the cuts go way beyond waste, fraud, and abuse. Check out this joint resolution with Adams County Health Department and Jefferson County Public Health , which describes the serious impacts we may experience.

Unbelievable that Verizon and other large carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T) can be so offensively glib about the current international roaming disruption.

It isn't too hard to stand-up a website, 1800 phone number, or numerous other options to provide information and guidance to thousands of folks across the world who are experiencing disruptions to their voice and data.

I don't rant much about consumer issues... But I have a child in Europe who is without service. And I have spent 3+ hours this morning trying to get answers and help. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

And it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of a human at Verizon when you do not have access to your primary account holder's phone, account, and/or data. The system is designed to avoid human interactions as much as possible.

For example, what happens when you need to contact Verizon support but cannot authenticate because your phone doesn't work or you cannot access data or voice service? You never get a human. It happened to me last month when I cracked my screen. I had to just get a new phone because Verizon made getting help so difficult.

Is there anything our federal or state lawmakers and elected officials can do? I am willing to help.

Special thanks to DA Brian Mason for his leadership and partnership on addressing youth homelessness!

Adams County is preparing the first youth homeless shelter to open in the next month or two. The hope is to keep young people in the county on the right track and out of the criminal justice system.

Adams County continues to invest in our people.

While our first round of ARPA funding was designed to rapidly respond to COVID by investing in many smaller grants to partners providing direct services to people, our second round of ARPA funding is designed for recovery by investing in fewer but more lasting and impactful projects focused on housing, homelessness, and mental health.

With the city of Denver pushing forward on plans to house 1,000 people experiencing homelessness by the end of the year, neighbors in Adams County are also trying to make headway with recent funding to support their fight to end homelessness in their communities.

My heart goes out to the brave and dedicated Adams County sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty this morning. I've just been updated that his injuries are not life threatening and that he has been released from the hospital.

We are thankful for the courage and commitment of our first responders in keeping our communities safe. We are grateful that the deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
