PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Chief Levertt would like to remind the citizens of Brighton to lock your vehicle's and take the keys inside with you; also, remove any valuable items.

We recently had a vehicle theft. The theft of the vehicle was made very easy for the suspects due to the keys being left inside of the vehicle. Please take an extra moment to ensure that there are no valuables left inside of the vehicle and also grab your keys.

Chief Levertt!

Spring is here and the weather will continue to get nicer which means more people will be out walking and riding bikes. Please be courteous and park your vehicles in your driveway or on the street. In doing so, you prevent pedestrians and small children on bikes from having to enter the road when a sidewalk is blocked. Thank you!

The weather is finally warming up and there are a lot more people out and about. With the increase in traffic, there is also an increase of dangerous driving!

The Brighton Police Department, along with other agencies, will be focusing on ensuring the safety of motorists. We will be focusing on the "Fatal Five" moving violations (DUI's, Speeding, Improper Lane Usage, Fail to Wear Seatbelt, & Following Too Close), Distracted Driving (Cell Phone Use), and Scott's Law (Move Over Law) violations.

One or more of these violations play a major role in the majority of accidents that we see.

Please do your part - "Focus on the Drive and Arrive Alive."

ATTENTION VILLAGE OF BRIGHTON RESIDENTS!!!

To ensure the safety and security of the Village of Brighton residents, it is highly recommended that you make sure your mailbox or house (or both) are labeled with your house numbers.

There has been several occasions where an emergency vehicle (police/fire/ambulance) has been responding to a call and was not been able to locate the correct house in a timely manner due to it not being visibly numbered.

Responding to each incident in a timely manner requires all first responders to find the proper address, which in certain situations has proven difficult in the past. By having your address clearly marked near the roadway, and visible from either direction of approach, you can help us and save valuable moments when you, your home or loved one is in need of assistance.

The Brighton Fire Department is selling reflective 911 address signs to aid the fire department, law enforcement, ambulance, and many more directly to your home or business. The signs are high quality and look great, they will also serve a vital purpose, silently posted to help when you need it most.

The price for these signs is $15 each. This includes mounting to an existing post on your property. The firefighters are more than willing to hang your new sign for you free of charge in this manner. The firefighters will also supply you with brackets to hang your new sign onto a “T” post or similar for $1.

Help us help you, with this purchase your mailbox post will look better, and help will be able to quickly find you when it is summoned.

Please contact Firefighter Jeff Clagg at (618)402-2757. Contact by email at [email protected].

Please check your registration stickers on your vehicles. The Illinois Secretary of State is no longer sending out reminder notices via the US mail, however you can go to their website, www.cyberdriveillinois.com, and sign up for email reminders.

Every year, Illinois residents with license plates usually get a notice in the mail to renew their stickers. But now, that is not happening - and drivers are starting to get tickets for expired stickers.

The Alton Police Department is giving gift cards instead of tickets at routine traffic stops.
