The Box Elder County Landfill is back to normal operations today, Friday, August 21.

The landfill will be open until 4:30 p.m.

🎨 Meet the Artist Behind This Year’s Fair Book Cover!

We’re excited to feature the work of Nik Astle, a local artist from Corinne, on this year’s Box Elder County Fair book cover!

Nik’s artwork is inspired by his first-hand experiences working on his family’s cattle ranch and his love of Western history. Mostly self-taught, Nik began drawing at a young age with lots of encouragement from his family.

Today, he works in a variety of mediums, with an emphasis on watercolor, gouache and pen & ink. His art reflects the people, places and traditions that make rural Box Elder County so special.

Nik has even had a connection to the fair book before—his artwork was selected as the fair book cover winner in 2005!

We’re proud to have his artwork featured on this year’s cover and invite you to check out more of his work.

One year ago today, our community suffered a loss that is still deeply felt.

On August 17, 2025, Sergeant Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada of the Tremonton-Garland Police Department gave their lives in service to others.

Today, we remember the men behind the badges, the service they gave, the people they protected, and the impact they left on this community. We also remember the families, friends, fellow officers, first responders, and community members who continue to carry their loss.

A year has passed, but they have not been forgotten.

Today, we honor Sergeant Sorensen and Officer Estrada with gratitude, respect, and remembrance.
