Today, we remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and especially honor the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 EMTs and paramedics, and all of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

They answered the call without hesitation. They climbed the stairs while others were coming down. They ran toward the danger, knowing they might never make it home.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and every responder who stood together that day — and the countless responders who continue to carry the physical and emotional weight of 9/11.

The fire service will always remember those who gave everything in service to others.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The Bridport Fire Department is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and fellow firefighter, Phil Stearns of the Addison Fire Department.

Phil was more than just a fellow firefighter — he was a friend, a familiar face, and always a helping hand. Whether it was at a call, a training, or just around the firehouse, you knew Phil would be there and ready to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

We’re going to miss seeing you, Phil. Thank you for all the times you showed up, helped out, and simply being the kind of person everyone could count on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Phil’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at the Addison Fire Department.

Bridport Town Wide Yard Sale Weekend is Almost Here!

Enjoy Lunch at the Park from 10-2 both days. Burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, drinks, and more! Every purchase helps support your local volunteer firefighters and the services they provide to our community.

🚔🐾 OH NO, SPARKY! 🐾🚔

It appears Sparky the Fire Dog has found himself in a little trouble with the Sheriff’s Department today!

The charges? Excessive tail wagging, unauthorized treat consumption, and being way too cute in public. And maybe a few too many creemees… 😄🍦

Luckily, the deputies have agreed to release him on one condition…

You have to come help bail him out at the Bridport Fire Department Father’s Day BBQ tomorrow starting at 11:00 AM!

Join us for great food, great company, and help get our favorite fire pup back where he belongs. 🐶🔥

We hope to see you there!

What an amazing Memorial Day spent with our community! 🇺🇸🚒

The Bridport Fire Department was proud to attend both the Middlebury and Vergennes Memorial Day Parades today. Sparky the Fire Dog was a huge hit with kids and families all along the routes, and we were excited to show off our newly built “Wagon 1” for everyone to see!

A huge thank you to our incredible Ladies Auxiliary for walking the parade routes and handing out candy to all the smiling kids. It was a fun, enjoyable day honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice while spending time with such supportive communities.

Thank you to everyone who came out and cheered us on — we had a great time! ❤️🚒

Be part of the 2026 Bridport Day Float Parade on Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m.! We’re inviting local businesses, organizations, groups, farms, and families to join the parade and help kick off a full day of Bridport Day festivities at the park featuring food, games, music, and fun until 5 p.m.

Family-friendly floats encouraged. Prize for Best Float.

With the current burn ban in effect in Bridport and all surrounding towns, we just want to remind everyone to take it seriously.

Conditions across Vermont have been dry, windy, and high risk for fire spread, and even a small spark can turn into something that gets out of control fast.

That means no brush burning, campfires, or burn barrels until conditions improve and officials lift the ban.

We know it’s that time of year where everyone wants to clean up yards and burn brush, but it’s not worth the risk to your property, your neighbors, or the crews that would have to respond.

Let’s all do our part to keep everyone safe:
• Hold off on any outdoor burning
• Be careful with equipment that can spark
• Report any fires immediately

Stay safe and let’s prevent the next wildfire before it starts. 🔥🚫
