Remembering our darkest day:
June 12, 1959: Bower Hill firefighter Alfred Dollie is killed in the line of duty when he falls off the tailboard of a fire engine responding to a call for a brush fire on Daube's Hill. As the engine was moving on Greentree Road, Dollie's helmet fell off, and he released his grip on the handbar to grab for it, lost his balance and fell from the vehicle. He is transported to St. Clair Hospital by Scott Township Police Department's ambulance, where he is pronounced dead. This is the only line-of-duty death in department history.

The April 8, 2026 weekly drill was pump operations refresher. Operators were able to review their skills, and other firefighters practiced hose evolutions.
