We’re excited to announce The Paw-fect Scoop K9 Fundraiser!

Join us at Barbera’s on Thursday, October 8th from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM for a special fundraiser night supporting the Cumberland County Department of Corrections K9 Unit.

Come out for an evening of ice cream, community, and support for our K9 team. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about our K9 Unit and the important role our K9 partners play in supporting the safety and security of our facility and community.

We hope to see you there!

Sheriff David Valentino, 1969 to 1972, instituted programs that led to uniformity in dress and equipment within the department. A new jail was erected during his term.

Fun Facts:

In 1866-67 a fourth jail was built in the county. It contained a residence for the Sheriff. During the term of office Sheriff David McBride, 1878 to 1881, a two-story addition to the residence was built, along with a cook kitchen.

Fun Fact about the Cumberland County Department of Corrections.

Ananias Sayre was the first Sheriff in the new County of Cumberland. During his term of office, he built a twelve foot square jail of logs in Greenwich.
