📣 Juneteenth Parade & Festival Traffic Notice 📣

The Juneteenth Celebration of New Bern takes place today, Saturday, June 20. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Henderson Park, followed by the festival in the Five Points area with vendors, food, live music, and family activities. Fireworks are scheduled at dusk, around 8:30 p.m., at Henderson Park.

Temporary street closures are currently in place:

• Broad Street, 1000-1200 blocks: until 6 p.m.
• Roundtree Street, 500-600 blocks: until 6 p.m.
• Third Avenue, 700 block from Elm Street to Henderson Park: until 12 p.m.

Please use caution, allow extra travel time, and follow posted signage in the area.

Come out and enjoy this special community celebration!

🚧 Downtown Crosswalk Project Update 🚧

Work continues at the Craven Street/Po***ck Street intersection as part of the downtown crosswalk improvement project.

Crews have completed the brickwork in all four crosswalks. Milling work is scheduled for Saturday morning, June 20, with work at this location expected to be complete by Wednesday, June 24, weather permitting.

The intersection remains closed to vehicle traffic while work is underway.

Sidewalks remain open, and downtown shops and restaurants are open for business. Please continue to visit, support local, and enjoy our downtown businesses during this temporary closure.

Drivers and pedestrians should use caution in the area and follow posted signs and detours.

Thank you for your patience as this project moves toward completion.

Public Works is on graveyard shift this week! Heads up they'll be pressure washing sidewalks downtown Wednesday & Thursday, 12am-7am. They started this project in late May & need to finish up. They're looking forward to a good night's rest too, so they promise to get this done quickly & efficiently!
