Cumberland County Commissioners have been busy connecting with organizations that are shaping the future of our region.

Commissioner Yolanda Garcia Balicki recently joined community leaders in Vineland for the ribbon cutting of the new headquarters for Global Media Society Marketing and Public Relations Network and Fiesta Borinquena, marking an exciting new chapter for both organizations as they grow their presence in Cumberland County.

Commissioner Garcia Balicki, Commissioner Robert Austino, and Commissioner James Sauro also joined college and community leaders at Rowan College of South Jersey's Cocktails and Conversations event, an evening of connection and dialogue bringing together supporters of RCSJ's mission across both its Gloucester and Cumberland campuses. Among those in attendance were RCSJ President Brenden Rickards, Assemblyman Cody Miller who also serves as Executive Director of the RCSJ Foundation, and Sarah Palese, Director of the RCSJ Foundation and Alumna Relations.

Commissioner James Sauro, who serves as the County Commissioners liaison to education, joined Cumberland County Technical Education Center (CCTEC) in celebrating this year's class of the school's Academic Varsity Letter recipients.

The honor goes to students who maintained Principal's or Superintendent's List standing for the first three marking periods of the year, a achievement that reflects dedication to academic excellence.
Seeing students earn recognition for their commitment to learning is exactly what this county is proud to support.

Congratulations to every student who earned their letter!

Getting to appointments, work, school, and essential services is becoming easier for Cumberland County residents.

SJ Connects has launched six new shuttle routes across South Jersey, helping connect communities to key destinations including Inspira Health locations, academic facilities, transportation centers, employment hubs, and more. All shuttles are free and ADA accessible.

Senator Michael L. Testa Jr. highlighted the impact of the new service, stating:
"The launch of six new SJ Connects routes is a big win for Cumberland County and all of South Jersey. For too long, our communities have lacked the reliable transportation access they deserve. These new routes will help connect residents to jobs, healthcare, and opportunity while ensuring South Jersey finally gets the transportation investment it deserves."

Cumberland County Commissioner Yolanda Garcia Balicki had a milestone moment when she was officially sworn in as the New Jersey State Bar Association Trustee for Cumberland County by New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner at the NJSBA's Annual Meeting and Convention.

As a County Trustee on the NJSBA's governing Board of Trustees, Commissioner Garcia Balicki will represent the interests of Cumberland County attorneys at the state level, helping shape policies on ethics, professional standards, legal education, and community service that impact the legal profession across New Jersey.

Cumberland County appreciates the representation by Commissioner Garcia Balicki both here at home and on the statewide stage. Congratulations, Commissioner Garcia Balicki

The St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church Greek Festival in Vineland this past weekend, was once again a can't miss event. Commissioner Director Sandra Taylor, and Commissioners James Sauro and Antonio Romero as well as Senator Michael Testa stopped by to take in the festivities alongside the community.

The annual festival is one of South Jersey's most beloved warm weather traditions, drawing crowds with authentic Greek food, live music, dancing, rides, vendors, and raffles. It's the kind of event that feels less like a festival and more like a genuine celebration of culture and community.

Cumberland County is always glad to see our residents and neighbors come together for events like this one.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT: Cumberland County’s contractor (South State ,Inc.) will continue construction of storm water infrastructure and concrete curb on CR 698 (Fairton Road) between King Drive and Hillcrest Drive and CR 712 (Rieck Avenue) between Country Lane and CR 698 (Fairton Road) in the City of Millville. Fairton Road will be closed to through traffic within these limits while Rieck Avenue will have one way operation with flagmen present. Work is expected to continue for several weeks with tree removal & trimming, limited concrete sidewalk work, roadway construction, asphalt paving, and signage & striping installation to follow completion of the current operations.

Installation of concrete items will require short term access restrictions to allow the concrete to cure sufficiently prior to vehicular loading. Damage to a water main due to an improper mark out on June 2nd caused the emergency closure of Rieck Avenue within the construction zone. County personnel are onsite daily conducting inspections of the ongoing construction efforts.

Commissioner Director Sandra Taylor joined local officials and community members in Vineland for the ribbon cutting at the Wandering Rose Cafe and Grill, welcoming a new dining destination to the city. New businesses bring energy and opportunity to our communities, and the Wandering Rose is a welcome addition to Vineland.

Director Taylor joined Commissioner Yolanda Garcia Balicki and Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae at the Gateway Community Action Partnership's Community Action Day to pay tribute to Founder and CEO Albert B. Kelly.

The Gateway event carried a different but equally meaningful spirit, honoring Mayor Kelly's remarkable 40 year career of service to the people of New Jersey. As both the founder of Gateway Community Action Partnership and the Mayor of Bridgeton, Mayor Kelly has spent four decades as a diligent public servant.

Cumberland County is proud to celebrate new beginnings and recognize the kind of lifelong dedication that makes our region stronger.

Commissioner Director Sandra Taylor and Deputy Director Art Marchand joined Congressman Jeff Van Drew, Senator Michael Testa, and Assemblymen Antwan McClellan, and Erik Simonsen for a parade and presented a proclamation honoring 100 years of service to the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company.

It all started in 1925 when a fire destroyed Leesburg High School and a community decided to never let that happen again. One hundred years later, the men and women of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company are still showing up, still volunteering, and still protecting the residents of Maurice River Township and Cumberland County.

Cumberland County is proud to recognize a century of courage, sacrifice, and community pride. Here's to the next 100 years!

Expanding access, opening doors.

Cumberland County is proud to introduce the county’s first Library Accessibility Center, designed to support individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This space features technology that can scan and read printed materials aloud, along with a braille typewriter that converts text into braille in real time.

This is an exciting step in our community as everyone deserves equal access to information, learning, and opportunity. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on this effort.
