RED CROSS ASSISTANCE MAY BE AVAILABLE
Even if emergency sheltering is not required, residents may be eligible for assistance from the American Red Cross when severe flood damage affects an essential living space in their home.
An essential living space includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, or living room that is regularly used by household members and requires repairs to restore functionality.
Damage may qualify when:
🔹 Floodwater rises above 18 inches in an essential living space
🔹 Water reaches electrical outlets in an essential living space
🔹 The first floor is affected when the basement is completely full of water
🔹 Disaster-related damage affects electrical or utility systems that require inspection or repair before they can safely be used
If disaster-related damage prevents safe occupancy within the next 48 hours or prevents safe access to the home, municipal confirmation is required.
Call the American Red Cross at (877) 287-3327 to determine whether assistance may be available.
