⛈ Weather Alert ⛈

A Flood Watch is in effect for our area late tonight through noon Sunday.

Hazards: Heavy rain leading to flash flooding is possible. Rainfall rates around 2 inches per hour will be possible with any stronger showers or storms. The Slight Risk, or 2 out of 4, for flash flooding includes northern Delaware, all of southeast Pennsylvania, and most of New Jersey. The risk for severe thunderstorms is very low.

Impacts: Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches in a very short period of time can lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas, potentially leading to localized road closures. Some smaller, faster responding creeks and streams could flood.

Location: The greatest risk is in the more flash flood prone urban areas along the I-95 corridor.

Timing: Late tonight (after midnight) through noon tomorrow, Sunday, September 13th.

SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDER

With the new school year underway, we want to remind everyone about one of the most important rules on the road: STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES.

When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST stop.

Our local school buses are now equipped with the BusPatrol camera system, which is designed to identify and document vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses.

Unfortunately, during just the first week of school, five violations have already been documented involving drivers failing to stop for a school bus displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm.

Five violations in one week is five times too many. These laws exist for one reason, which is to protect our students.

Please slow down, pay attention, and give school buses the space they need. A few extra seconds of patience could prevent a tragedy.
