Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, and we're celebrating all of the trans folks who make our state Almost Heaven! Across West Virginia, transgender people are more visible than ever before. They are our neighbors, our family, our teachers, our leaders — and so much more. Today, we reaffirm that trans rights are human rights, and trans joy is worth fighting for.
Sadly, this year's comes amid a surge of anti-trans legislation across the country. Visibility is crucial, but our work won't be finished until all of our trans siblings can live free from discrimination! We strive for a world where all trans people have access to the resources they need to thrive and the freedom to live fully as themselves without threat of violence or discrimination.
