Dear City Council Members
Aidee Nieves City Council President
I am excited and proud to throw my hat in the ring and officially announce my candidacy for Bridgeport City Council vacant seat in 139 District. I look forward to representing everyone in the 139 District of which I have been a resident for the past 15 years. I will display integrity and honesty in all my interactions and treat all that I encounter with the utmost respect.
It will be a great privilege to serve my community on City Council. I will do so by listening openly to the concerns of all our community members with the goal of building a better Bridgeport, one that thrives economically and maintains that “small town” feel in our neighborhoods.
My name is Harry Saturnino Carrillo, and I am a retired Latino Outreach Coordinator of ten years of service whit MCCA, Inc. 38 Old Ridgebury Road Danbury, CT
The Latino Outreach Worker arranges access to care whether at MCCA or another substance abuse treatment provider and provides information to Latino individuals and groups within the community concerning substance abuse as well as available treatment services and other Hispanic service providers and other Hispanic community professionals to assure comprehensive, quality and timely referrals.
I have lived in Bridgeport all my life. I plan to run for Bridgeport City Council in the 2023 election year. I was born and raised in the Bridgeport community. I attended Harding High School from which I graduated in1970. I attended Evangel University / CBC College where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a Minor in Psychology in 1997. Since then, I have pursued a career in Counseling and am currently employed at MCCA in Danbury CT as an Impaired Driver DUI/DWI Program, PTIP Counselor
I have been a property owner in Bridgeport since I bought my first home here in 2000. My wife is a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and is a retired Phlebotomist. I am the proud father of two wonderful boys who currently have their own privet business. My family has lived and worked in Bridgeport for generations and there is no place I’d rather call home. I have a vested interest in Bridgeport and the community. I have had a passion for a long time to take part in local government, I waited until the opportunity was right in order to put my best effort into taking part in local government. I feel that at this point in my life I have the knowledge and time to devote to this important position. Due to the various ways in which I am already involved within the community, such as connecting with and maintaining positive relationships with residents, local businesses, facilities and institutions, being involved with my children’s education, and keeping up to date with local issues including the economy, politics and decisions made by the current city council, I feel that the next natural step is for me to become actively involved in local politics.
If I should get the opportunity to serve in the city council, I will focus on community safety, developing opportunities for new businesses and support for our existing community businesses. I will promote responsible fiscal decision making, support our local schools, and work toward offering more opportunities for youth recreational programs that promote important values such as tolerance and respect in an ever-evolving diverse community. I will work to ensure that local government has positive effects on our quality-of-life and not be intrusive to the residents of Bridgeport.
I would like to see an improvement in the condition of city streets to keep our city looking clean and beautiful. I would ensure that all residents have a voice and make decisions that are in the best interest of the city and its residents. I am also very devoted to long-term planning since I plan on living in and raising my children in this community and hopeful even watch my grandchildren grow up here. We live in a great city! Let’s work together to make it an even better place to live, work and play!
Respectfully submitted
Harry Saturnino Carrillo
