Each year, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs – Division of Fire Safety and the New Jersey Fire Prevention and Protection Association sponsor a Fire Prevention Poster Contest as a community outreach program. The program is administered through the school district during Fire Prevention month in October in order to emphasize and educate children on the importance of fire safety. This year the theme was “CHARGE into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home”, a vital topic these days with the daily use of electronic devices and the increased usage of rechargeable batteries.

At the conclusion of the contest period, we had 21 winners, ranging from pre-school through 12th grade. This week, Assistant Fire Marshal Borden and Assistant Fire Marshal Nicol made visits to some of our schools to deliver prizes for local winners of the contest.

THANK YOU to Breton Woods Fire Company #1, Pioneer Hose Co #1 , Laurelton Fire Company #1 and Herbertsville Fire Company No. 1 for their generous donations which made us able to purchase gift cards for our winners!

Thank you to all the schools and Art Teachers who participated this year! We greatly appreciate your cooperation and always look forward to seeing the creativity of the kids each year!

This week is EMS week, which is dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the vital role EMS professionals share in a community. Whether it is lifesaving situations or community events, our incredible EMS squad shows up to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our entire community. They deliver care and compassion in every emergency. They assist in the continued education of our law enforcement officers as well as our fire department. They standby during town functions to ensure everyone stays safe. We thank them for their relentless commitment to our community! An extra special thank you and congratulations to our very own EMS squad, as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary this year! Happy EMS week Brick Township EMS/Rescue!

Last night volunteer members of Pioneer Hose and Breton Woods Fire Companies were in attendance at the 5th Annual Brick Schools ECAC Family Fair at Warren Wolf Early Childhood Development Center. Thank you to the organizers of the Family Fair for connecting our volunteers with families and other members of our community!

In a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, there is an elevated risk for fire spread this afternoon across portions of central and southern New Jersey. Humidity values will drop this afternoon as temperatures increase, with winds gusting to around 30 MPH, which could create situations where fires ignited could spread more rapidly and be difficult to control. Please be sure to properly extinguish and/or dispose of any potential ignition sources, including discarded smoking materials.
