The Briarcliff Manor Police Department announces the arrest of a 19-year-old village resident in connection with an alleged incident involving the unlawful entry into the Briarcliff Manor High School/Middle School building during the early morning hours yesterday.
The incident, along with the discovery of a suspicious but non-threatening note, prompted school officials and the Briarcliff Manor Police Department to conduct a safety sweep of the campus out of an abundance of caution. The sweep determined there was no known threat to students, faculty, or staff.
The individual was charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree and was arraigned in Briarcliff Manor Village Court. The defendant is scheduled to appear in court on June 10.
The Briarcliff Manor Police Department would like to thank the Briarcliff Schools Security Team, the school district’s IT Department, and members of the BMPD Patrol and Detective Divisions for their collaborative efforts and swift response, which helped bring this situation to a quick resolution.
