The CAC is a child-friendly setting with a coordinated response to child abuse cases

The CAC is also responsible for reviewing all child deaths in the county and out of that came our Child Fatality Prevention Task Force. The Task Force is made up of professionals from around the county that are interested in the safety of our children and the prevention of injury and death through educating the public.

Our team is committed to continuous learning to better serve children and families in our community. This week, members of the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County's Multidisciplinary Team—including a Victim Advocate and an Assistant District Attorney—attended the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center Crimes Against Children Conference. By learning from national experts and collaborating with professionals from across the country, they are bringing valuable knowledge and best practices back to Putnam County to strengthen our response to child abuse and support for victims.

What a great evening connecting with our community at National Night Out! 💙
The Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County and the Friends of the Putnam Child Advocacy Center were proud to table at both the Carmel Police Department and Brewster Police Department events, sharing information about our mission and the services we provide to children and families throughout Putnam County.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible law enforcement partners for your unwavering commitment to protecting children and supporting our work. We are grateful to the Carmel Police Department, Brewster Police Department, Kent Police Department, Putnam County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police for your continued collaboration and dedication.

The Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County had a wonderful time at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Meet the Fleet event! 🚓💙
We're grateful to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office for hosting such a fun community event and for being one of our valued partners in protecting children. As an essential member of our multidisciplinary team, the Sheriff's Office works alongside the CAC and other partner agencies to help ensure children and families receive the protection and justice they deserve.
A special thank you to Sheriff Hess, Undersheriff Menton, Captain Pitt, all of the deputies, investigators, and the incredible cadets who went above and beyond to assist our CAC staff throughout the event. We truly appreciate your partnership, your service, and your commitment to the children and families of Putnam County.

Camp safety includes digital safety. Whether kids are headed to sports camp, sleepaway camp or day camp, devices often go with them.

That means parents, counselors and camp staff all have a role to play in setting clear .

Before camp starts, talk about who kids can trust and remind them not to share personal info, locations or photos with people they're meeting for the first time.

Shoutout to our signed Partner, the American Camp Association, for helping promote summer safety across the country!

💙 Safety starts with awareness.
One of the first and most important safety rules we teach kids is Know What’s Up—paying attention to situations, behaviors, and online interactions that don’t feel right. Whether it’s recognizing unsafe situations, understanding personal boundaries, or identifying digital dangers like online predators, cyberbullying, and inappropriate content, knowledge is a powerful tool for prevention.
Through the Child Safety Matters® programs, our Program Coordinator visits schools throughout Putnam County to help students build the skills they need to stay safe both in person and online. These evidence-based lessons empower children and teens to recognize warning signs, make safe choices, and speak up when something doesn’t seem right.
By teaching young people to stay aware of their surroundings and their digital world, we are helping them develop the ability to protect themselves and others!
