Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County

Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County The CAC is a child-friendly setting with a coordinated response to child abuse cases

The CAC is also responsible for reviewing all child deaths in the county and out of that came our Child Fatality Prevention Task Force. The Task Force is made up of professionals from around the county that are interested in the safety of our children and the prevention of injury and death through educating the public.

As Child Abuse Prevention Month comes to a close, we at the CAC, just want to say thank you. From the pinwheel planting at Lake Gleneida, to Wear Blue Day, to the Champions for Children Breakfast, it was great to see so many people show up and support this work. These moments matter. They help raise awareness, strengthen our community, and remind children and families that they are not alone. We are grateful for all of our partners and community members who continue to stand with us —not just this month, but all year!

💙 Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to raise awareness and take action to protect children in our communities.

Prevention starts with education. Our Child Advocacy Center’s Program Coordinator visits schools across the county, teaching the Monique Burr Foundation’s Child Safety Matters® and Teen Safety Matters® programs. These evidence-based curricula empower students with knowledge about personal safety, healthy relationships, and how to recognize and report abuse.

By equipping children and teens with the tools to speak up and stay safe, we’re building a stronger, more informed community.

Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and protected!

💙 Students at Mahopac Middle School joined the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County in planting pinwheels for the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign—raising awareness and standing up for a brighter, safer future for children. The message continued at Mahopac High School, where pinwheels were also planted and where students connected with CAC representatives at the Career and Services Fair to learn more about the important work being done in our community.
Thank you to Mahopac Schools for your support and partnership!💙

A heartfelt thank you to the Brewster Central School District for standing with the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County in support of the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign 💙
By planting pinwheels across all their schools, they’re helping raise awareness and show their commitment to creating safe, happy, and healthy childhoods for every child in our community. Together, we can make a difference!

Yesterday’s pinwheel planting is a powerful reminder that protecting children starts with all of us. When adults learn to recognize the signs of abuse and speak up, we can make a life-changing difference.
Together, as a community, we stand united in creating safer, brighter futures for every child.

Today, staff from the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County and partnering Putnam County departments wore blue in recognition of NYS’s Wear Blue Day—standing together to raise awareness and show support for children and families in our community.
You’ll also start to see pinwheels appearing across our local schools. Planted by students and school staff, these pinwheels are a national symbol of the happy, healthy childhood every child deserves.
We invite YOU to be part of this important movement. Join the CAC tomorrow, April 2nd at 12PM, as we plant an even bigger community pinwheel garden in front of the Sybil Ludington Statue in Carmel.
Together, we can make a difference—because every child deserves a safe and bright future. 💙
