Circle of Security is an 8-week parenting program held weekly at Brevard TFP!

Starting September 15th, this empowering 8-week program is designed to help parents and caregivers build stronger, more secure relationships with their children.

You'll learn how to:
- Understand your child's behavior
- Respond to BIG feelings with confidence
- Build trust and strengthen your lifelong bond

There is free childcare and a meal provided! Registration is required.

The Family Place Welcomes Two New Board Members!

We are pleased to welcome Karen Fenton and Taylor Tipton to our Board of Directors. Both bring valuable professional experience, a strong commitment to our community, and a shared belief in the importance of supporting children and families.

Karen Fenton recently returned to the Brevard area after retiring from a career as a clinical child psychologist. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from Ohio State University and completed her internship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Her career included private practice as well as more than 15 years with the U.S. Psychological Association, where she served in a variety of roles. Karen shared that she believes supporting family well-being is essential to supporting the community, and she hopes to use her professional experience and understanding of the complexities families face to help The Family Place continue to grow its programs and reach.

Taylor Tipton is a Brevard-based accountant and business owner who launched her own accounting firm in 2025 after earning her bachelor's degree in accounting with honors. She is also active in the community through the Chamber of Commerce and Transylvania County Schools Education Foundation. Taylor brings strong accounting, budgeting, leadership, and communication skills to the Board and has a particular passion for helping children and families have opportunities to thrive. We are especially pleased that Taylor has agreed to serve as Treasurer of the Board, where her financial expertise will be an important asset to The Family Place.

We are grateful to Karen and Taylor for choosing to invest their time, expertise, and energy in The Family Place. As we approach our 30th anniversary and look toward the organization's next chapter, strong and engaged Board leadership will continue to be an important part of ensuring that The Family Place remains responsive to families and our community for years to come.

💙 Mondays - Front desk at our Brevard location. We need help with answering phones, greeting families, light administrative tasks, and craft prep.
10:30 am - 1:30 pm & 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

💙 Wednesdays 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Childcare for our homeschool parent chat - Rosman location

💙 Wednesdays 10:00 - 11:30 am - Childcare for our Circulo de Padres chat in Brevard - Speaking Spanish is helpful, but not required

Family Mix continues to grow as a welcoming space rooted in community, connection, and fun for families. Facilitated by Verdie Duron, this special evening invites parents and caregivers to bring their partner or favorite human and team up for a variety of fun, easygoing challenges and games.

Whether you’re coming with your partner, best friend, family member, or another favorite person, this night is all about laughing, connecting, and having fun together. Teams will compete in a series of fun and lighthearted challenges designed for everyone to enjoy, with opportunities to win fun prizes along the way!

While adults enjoy the challenges and friendly competition, our amazing children’s team will keep the kids engaged in a separate space with crafts, games, activities, and plenty of playtime.

Dinner will be provided, so you can come ready to relax, have fun, and enjoy a night of connection.

No special skills or experience needed—just bring your family, your sense of humor, and your competitive spirit! Come ready to laugh, cheer each other on, and see which team takes home the prize!
