THE MOTHER OF ALL BAD IDEAS, FROM TODAY'S DEMOCRAT PARTY; EXPAND THE SUPREME COURT. To address this monumentally stupid idea, on September 2, 2026, the House of Representatives voted on H.J.Res. 1, a proposed constitutional amendment that would have permanently fixed the size of the U.S. Supreme Court at nine justices. All Republicans voted in favor, while 1, yes, I said 1, Democrat voted in favor, with 205 voting against. Just when you thought Democrats couldn't be more radical, they've decided that the only way to implement their socialist agenda is to undermine the Constitution by increasing the number of Supreme Court Justices from nine to some unspecified number when they gain control of the Presidency and Congress.

If you love America and believe in fildelity to the Constitution, you can't give Democrats political power.

The future of the Supreme Court is on the ballot in November, as Democrats keep showing, over and over. On Wednesday, the House voted on a proposal to amend the Constitution to fix the Court at nine Justices, its size since 1869. Passing an amendment takes a two-thirds majority as a first step. This failed, 212-206, with all but a lone Democrat saying no.

As a messaging vote brought up by Republicans, it was revealing. “MAGA’s proposal is to strip Congress of all authority in the matter, to freeze it and cement it permanently in the constitutional architecture for all time, with the suddenly magic number, nine,” Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said on the floor. “What’s going on here? Well, surprise, surprise, America, it’s another partisan power grab by MAGA.”

Mr. Raskin also brought up the superficial talking point that since the country has 13 appeals courts, it should have 13 Justices. “There are no Justices from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has 67 million Americans living there,” he said. “Five of the Justices today come from the New York City metropolitan area, basically one for each borough. Is it really possible that there are not people from other parts of the country who could effectively and honorably serve on the Supreme Court?”

This argument is ridiculous, as in deserving of ridicule. When America was young, Supreme Court Justices spent part of each year “riding circuit,” hearing cases far afield from Washington, D.C., so the numbers matched. But that era effectively ended 135 years ago. In 1982 lawmakers set up the nationwide Federal Circuit to hear specialized appeals, such as patent disputes. It has no geographic base. And what if Congress someday splits the unwieldy Ninth Circuit? Then 14 Justices?

Mr. Raskin knows all of this. He taught constitutional law for decades. He’s cynically hoping that listeners less familiar with legal history will find the argument for 13 Justices compelling, despite its making no sense.

There’s something to be said for Court nominees with little known hometowns and degrees that don’t say Harvard or Yale, but Mr. Raskin’s real concern isn’t geographic diversity. Try to imagine his response if President Trump’s next Supreme Court nominee were, say, the Ninth Circuit’s conservative Judge Lawrence VanDyke.

The Democratic drive to pack the Court is about power, plain and simple. The Justices in today’s 6-3 majority are deciding cases based on the law as they see it. That includes landmark rulings against President Trump on tariffs, birthright citizenship, the Federal Reserve, and much more. Yet Mr. Raskin and his friends dislike the Court’s decisions on abortion, free political speech, the colorblind Constitution, and the separation of powers.

Disagreement is part of life in a healthy republic. The difference is that Democrats are preparing to wreck the Court and destabilize America’s legal system to get their way. There is nothing inherently “magic” about the number nine.

But there is something magic about the rule of law in a judiciary that has had nine Justices for a century and a half. If Democrats nuke the Senate’s filibuster in 2029, pack the Court to 13 Justices, and get a new Roe v. Wade, do they think Republicans will simply sigh and let bygones be bygones?

Since Mr. Raskin poses as a defender of democracy, he might want to ruminate on what happens to a country when it turns its courts into a plaything of its politicians.

Major Security Upgrades Completed Across District Facilities

Our district has taken significant strides forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff. Through key technology overhauls, our campuses are now equipped with advanced emergency response capabilities and streamlined communication systems.

The deployment of the Centegix CrisisAlert system provides a critical layer of defense across all school buildings. By providing staff with wearable, badge-based alert devices, immediate help can be summoned from anywhere on campus—both inside and outside building walls—at the touch of a button. The system delivers real-time locating data and automated notifications directly to first responders and onsite safety teams, drastically reducing emergency response times when seconds count most.

Optimal Tek Intercom Overhaul Progressing Rapidly

In addition to badge alerts, significant progress has been made on the district-wide overhaul of our school intercom, paging, and bell systems contracted through Optimal Tek.

Phased Rollout: Upgrades are officially completed across nearly half of our district buildings, equipped with modern paging and bell infrastructure. Installation across the remainder of our schools is scheduled for completion during the fall and winter months.

Synced Campus Clocks: As part of this comprehensive system upgrade, a fully synchronized clock system is integrated throughout entire school campuses, keeping all classrooms and administrative facilities perfectly aligned.

This vital safety initiative was made possible through strong community collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners for approving the utilization of Security Bond funds to finance this essential intercom overhaul.

We are also beyond grateful for the relentless hard work, dedication, and technical expertise demonstrated by our district employees and contractors, whose teamwork ensures the ongoing success of this project.

The forum schedule includes:

Panel 1 at 5:45 p.m., four candidates for two seats on the Transylvania County Board of Education: Democrats Bonnie Kelley and John Lanier; and Republicans Chad Owen and Shanaia Powell.

Panel #2, four candidates for two seats on the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners: Democrats Owen Carson and Bryan O’Neill; and Republicans George Sutherland and Kevin Howell.

Panel #3, two candidates for N.C. House District 119: Democrat Mark Burrows and Republican Savannah Ferguson.

Panel #4, two candidates for N.C. Senate District 50: Democrat Tom Downing and Republican Kevin Corbin.

The forum will be live-streamed on the Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce page. The forum’s format will include an equal time Q&A session with a single moderator, Angela Owen. Owen will ask at least five questions for each panel, with extra questions if time allows. Each candidate will have 1.5 minutes to answer each question. There will also be 1.5 minutes given to each candidate to make a closing statement at the end of each panel. The order of closing statements will be determined by drawing numbers out of a hat at the start of each panel. There will be a 5-minute break between Panel #1, Panel #2 and Panel #3.

DON’T ABANDON TRUMP NOW!

Do you still not believe there’s a battle to save our republic? Thanks to President Trump,
everything is being revealed, leaving no doubt. Progressives/Marxists/Communists are now out of the shadows to remake, i.e., destroy, America.

Background

We’ve been asleep while Progressives/Marxists/Communists have stealthily worked to destroy America since the Progressive Era began in the early 1900s. We’ve seen peaks in the 1960s and under Obama, but now it is a full-on assault. It’s time for all of us to wake up and join the fight. We, the citizens, are the only ones who can save America – not President Trump, not DC politicians, and not political parties.

The counterrevolution is underway. It starts locally. Are you engaged?

Progressives, the masters of projection, push the narrative that we conservatives are merely blind followers in the Trump cult. In fact, this is just the latest grassroots uprising in America, and Trump is simply out in front. He’s showing the way and taking the hits, sometimes literally. There have been ten assassination attempts, countless lawfare attacks, and even an FBI raid on his house. We need to follow his lead and do our part.

Why It Matters

The Trump agenda is dead if Republicans don’t maintain majorities in the U.S. Congress. We currently hold razor-thin majorities in the US Senate (53-47) and the House (218-212). If
we lose the House, it will be constant impeachments. Without the Senate, no Trump legislation gets enacted.

In NC, we hold a two-thirds supermajority in the Senate (30-20)
and are one seat short inthe House (71-47). Without NC legislative supermajorities, Republicans are unable to
override Democrat Governor Stein’s vetoes of their legislation. Roy Cooper vetoed a record 104 times over his eight years. Republicans overrode 52, all while they held a supermajority. If we lose the legislative supermajority again, as we did in 2019-2022, all progress for North Carolina stops.

What Still Needs to Be Done?
Keep in mind that the Democrats have been destroying America for decades. It will take more than one or two presidential terms to undo the damage. The breadth and pace of Trump’s second administration are breathtaking. But there is still much to be done, and it won’t be finished by January 2029, when he leaves the White House. Much of his work has relied on executive orders and court decisions, not legislation. Whenever Democrats regain
the White House, all of his executive orders will be canceled.
America will not be saved solely by President Trump, national Republicans, or even state Republicans. The frontlines are in our backyard. We need to elect Republicans at every level of government.
