Something to keep in mind if planning a multi-day trip down the river. White Fence/Bear Creek Boat Launch will need to be the scheduled takeout point above Rainbow Bend.

RAINBOW BEND BOAT LAUNCH CLOSED, starting Monday, July 22 through Friday July 26, 2024.

Anglers, boaters and floaters on the Manistee River can expect intermittent closures of the river with delays of two hours or more while dive work is being conducted. Boats on the Manistee River should plan accordingly and stay clear of the area unless absolutely necessary.

Reaching out to see if we can't help reunite a young angler with his missing tackle box.

We received a call this morning from the young kids grandmother letting us know that on (5/03)Saturday late afternoon just up from the boat launch, her grandson forgot his tackle box when they brought him down to fish.

We assume that a kind, fellow angler, probably found it with intentions of putting it into our lost and found...but our offices had already closed for the day. So if anyone was fishing here Saturday evening or early Sunday morning and happened upon a lonely tacklebox, we'd sure like to get it back into the hands of it's owner so that he can a line back in the water as soon as possible.

Stop on in or leave a message here on Facebook.

Thank you all!

Been getting a lot of questions about the new daily limits for steelhead. Hopefully this clears it up for every:

For the next 2 weeks(March 15-March 31) we are under last year's rules. So it's one fish until April 1st.

New steelhead regs go into effect with the new license year on April 1st, with those daily limits as followed:
1 fish over 20"
2 fish between 15-20"
2 fish between 10-15"
------------------
=5 fish total

The Manistee County Dive Team along with many of our northern Michigan partners will be conducting a swift-water dive training over the next two days on the Manistee River.

Dive operations will be conducted between Bridge St. and Instalaunch:

June 6th from 12pm to 6pm.

The river will be blocked at Bear Creek on the following date and time:

June 7th from 8am - 6pm

Please avoid the area if possible and thank you for your patience as our divers conduct this very important training!

Update: Search crews have completed their operation and have left the area.

We are asking people to try to avoid the rec area today as local crews continue their search on the river for a missing fisherman.

Thank you.

What you can do:

- CLEAN boats and gear with HOT (140° F) water or chemical disinfectants and remove any visible plants, mud and aquatic life before transporting.
- DRAIN the water from all equipment before transporting elsewhere.
- DRY all your gear for at least 5 days before going to a new waterbody.
These methods work for didymo, New Zealand mudsnails and most other aquatic invasive species.

Helpful Tips:

- Avoid visiting multiple rivers in a single day.
- Plan time to decontaminate between trips.
- Designate specific gear, especially porous items like felt soled waders, for use only in infested waters.

Control: Currently, there is no effective method to eradicate didymo from the environment.
