🚧 Big Changes Coming to Mark Twain Playground! 🚧

Beginning this weekend, crews will start work on major renovations to the playground at Mark Twain Elementary School.

The project includes the replacement of the existing playground structure with a new main play area featuring climbing and interactive play elements for elementary students. Crews will also install a new poured-in-place rubber surface to enhance accessibility, safety and durability.

For safety reasons, the playground will be closed throughout construction and will remain inaccessible to students, families and community members until the project is complete. Work is expected to be finished shortly before the start of the 2026-27 school year.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we invest in improvements that will benefit Mark Twain students for years to come. Additional updates will be shared as the project progresses.

During his final commencement address, Brentwood High School Principal Dr. Edward Johnson encouraged the Class of 2026 to embrace curiosity, think independently and never stop learning.

“You can teach a machine to code, but you can’t teach it to wonder,” Dr. Johnson said. “That spark of a unique thought, the joy of understanding something in a way only you can, is irreplaceable. AI can replace a line of code, but it cannot replace the delight of discovery. This is why I encourage you to keep your minds open, enjoy fiction, explore ideas beyond the world as you know it, and re-establish a sense of astonishment in your daily lives.”

Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Throughout the spring, our athletes competed against some of the top programs in Missouri, proving that success isn't determined by school size, but by hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.

Brentwood sent four athletes to the State Championships: Demeterius Thompson, Kensington Curd, Evan Goldman, and Christin Turntine—an incredible accomplishment with only 16 athletes qualifying per event.

Demeterius Thompson delivered one of the most impressive performances in state meet history, winning State Championships in the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and long jump, while also earning runner-up honors in the triple jump. His 38 points helped Brentwood finish 2nd overall.

Kensington Curd closed out her remarkable Brentwood career with three more All-State finishes, placing 4th in the 3200m, 5th in the 800m, and 6th in the 1600m. She leaves as one of the most decorated female athletes in school history with 11 All-State honors and 2 State Championships.

We're incredibly proud of all our athletes and excited for the future of Brentwood Track & Field!
